    Default Point System Statement

    ATTN: Point System

Recently on the Diablo II Sector forums people have been arguing about the current points system so I thought I’d give you all the 'admin' view. To those of you who are going to wet your girly little panties if the points system is reset... get over it. There is more to the D2S forums than how many points are under your name. If you wish to leave for such a pathetic reason, then that’s your prerogative.
The points system was introduced to encourage members to post with the reward being the ability to customise profiles and other options here and there… Members that have chosen to start trading points for items have done so at their risk. It was in no way my intention for this to happen. Originally people that chose to spam and or use point mule accounts to get a ridiculous amounts of points from bank interest could do no more than use all the store options and maybe change a lot of members titles. Thus not having much of an effect on the forums... So to those of you choosing to trade items and whatever else for points, the point system simply wasn’t made for it… It’s too difficult to control it to make it a fare currency. Sure it worked to start with, but obviously people were going to become fairly rich with time…

To sum up the situation... In the short term, no the point system wont be reset. BUT we will be reviewing how many points you get per post, how much items in the store cost, how many points you get when you first sign up, and the maximum amount of points you can earn (keeping in mind the points system was for profile customisation so you don’t really need a ridiculous amount like 500,000+ points and yes, those with points over the max limit we might set, WILL have their points reduced to this amount. Sorry…)

People can continue to trade items for points, but be aware that it’s your choice to do so and that the points system wasn’t intended for this purpose. You’ll have to live with whatever issues it throws at you.

Also, I have just deleted around 9,000 forum accounts where the username had 0 posts and hadn't logged in for the past 30 days to rid of any possible point mule accounts.

We may introduce some more forum mods that somehow allow trades to occur in a more controlled and fair environment, since it seems to be a popular thing amongst members... But we shall see.

On another topic... To those of you not taking other Admins seriously i.e CheshireCat, they have as much power as I do here. Yes i may be the "GOD" admin but that means little. They have all the same access and power as I do so please stop blowing them off.

    - Spitfire.

Good idea to post this in a new thread, not many people would have seen it in that nearly 20 page thread of spamming and useless argueing.

Thanks Nubli, probably never would have seen this had it not been put here. I personally don't much care about the points...except when some rich person decides to change a title and then when you change it back they change it again .. and because they are so rich they keep doing it until you run out of points. But w/e. Anyway, i like the changes just the same. Keep up the good job of cleaning the trash out of here.

if the point system was meant for just editing your account then why did you put the change other persons custom name? i dont like dat. ive had mine changed 2 times, and i have little money to change it back. 100 points here, 1800 in bank.

Well said Spitfire. I havent really understood this whole argument over points anyways.

Points gain interest when they are in a bank thing.

well comparing to most ppl, i have little money, but still enough to change ppls names. im saying that you should take that "change other user custom title" out of the ushop. it is starting to get anoying.

Its legal but for alot people the "value" of the points has gone down signifigantly because there is now a cap on the total number of points you can have at one time.
