Nascar is privately owned. It's not owned and ran by the general public, the government, Buddhists, Athiests, or any of that other bullshit. It's owned by CHRISTIANS(no shit, eh?) and believe it or not, the majority of the racers are CHRISTIANS, and a large chunk of the American population who view Nascar are either Athiest or Christian. How many Buddhist Nascar fans do you know? Not to be stereotypical, but i've never really heard of ANY.
All the racers take their hats/helments/etc off and bow their heads and put their right hand over their heart for prayer and the National Anthem. Well over 80% of the Audience does too, as I've attended more races than you've watched. I can safely say that by your post.
People who are against religion on TV=Wrong!
Nobody forced you to watch that prayer. If it offended you, turn the channel. Nobody forced you to take someones beliefs to heart, even though it's obvious you don't believe or condone them. Nobody DAMN sure asked you to like Nascar, and nobody ever will.
Want to get mad at religious Zealots? Get mad at the Jehova's Witnesses who force themselves onto your property and refuse to leave. Get mad at the public schools who force children to learn Evolution or Christianity. At the end of the day, back off the privately owned corporations who choose to pray to whatever god they believe in. Frankly, it's none of your business and you look like a total jackass.
