I did read your posts, but I still like an Ethereal Vortex Shield more than a Herald of Zackarum. It's a matter of taste though, some people agree with me, others don't.

i've named 3 reasons why hoz isn't superior to stormshield. unless u can think of maybe 12 ways it IS superior, i wouldn't even say "almost" every way.

if i have enough DR from elsewhere, i would choose alma negra over hoz, since the mods are far more melee-oriented.

Ok, so maybe that was a slight exaggeration. I was thinking more about Paladins in general, rather than a pure Zealot. A Templar, Hammerdin or Smiter would benefit a lot more from a Herald of Zakarum compared to a Stormshield.

There you have three builds that benefit more from a Herald of Zakarum, while virtually the only Paladin build that benefits more from Stormshield is the Zealot. But seeing as it actually is a zealot that he's building, then a Stormshield is still a very good choice.

I also agree with you about the Alma Negra, assuming he's got enough Damage Reduction on other items, then that might be an even better choice.

Yes, but that's not what I meant. As we all know, if an armor is Ethereal, it has 50% higher base defence. However, if you up an Ethereal armor, that added defence is lost. Meaning that an upped Ethereal Herald of Zackarum will have just as much defence as an ordianary upped one.

Except that you have lost a Zod rune, along with the chance to socket something else in there.

alma negra has several variable mods. good luck finding a perfect one. a +2 skill, 60+% ar, 60+% dmg is good enough imo. differences of a few % are unnoticeable.
