Odd Item Rarety

In the years that I have been playing, I have never seen an ac50+ 3+ socketed non-paladin shield drop. Are socketed exceptional/elite shield drops more common in some areas than others? Where do people hunt for these in game? Thanks.

the only 4 soc nonpally shield is a monarch. and good 3soc shields would be grim shields and troll nests for hi def and low str req. they shouldnt be that hard to find but if u find a normal nonsoc one just use larzuk to socket it from the quest and itll get max # of sockets.

no lol if it is set, unique, rare he adds one but if it is a normal item (i.e. written in white) then it gets maxed (i found an awesom superior zerker axe an di socketed it it has 6 slots but no 1 wants it )

monarch is not only 4 sox non-pala shield u can find

there is also Ward (185 str req) and Ageis (219 str req); not very usfull of high str req though

I am hoping to not waste one of my precious Larzuk Quests socketing a normal shield to get 3+ (diamonds for my sorc), but I may have to resort to that. I was hoping that some members here had some statistical infromation as to where socketed shields are most likely to drop in game so that I can hunt for one...

U could always take a gamble and find a norm monarch and use larzuck quest on it...

MF wouldn't affect socketed normal shields....

Yea the more mf u have the more magic items drop u actually hurting ur chances with alot of mf try cows with as little mf as possible

2 places come to mind. Pit and ancient tunnels. hell that is

try the pit in hell act 1 or just places with lots of elites and monsters u can kill. the more monsters u kill the more drops. the more drops the more items. the more items the higher chance of u finding what you want

only reason u havent seen shields 3+ socket drop is because u dont pay attention, By the way pits are in act1 tomoa highlands, *use black marsh wp and run/tele there.*

I find it much easier to go to Outer Cloister and then just backtrack, because it's always identical, You don't need maphack that much..

Actually I am VERY attentive to socket drops. I have ALT down the whole time, and I physically pick up every socket/ethereal to visually inspect. Believe it or not, no ac50+ 3+ socket shield drops in years of playing.
