First off here is a defintion you will need:

What is a 'botnet'?:

A botnet is a server consisting users who are trojaned, thus allowing the person who controls the trojan to use commands. The 'master' has control over there persons internet basicly allowing them to DDoS Servers, IP Address, Websites, you name it.

What is wrong with east? I can get on the other servers?

Q: IS there a new patch?
A: No, I personally witnessed the servers be attacked by a botnet.

Q: Is this fake?
A: No this is 100% Not fake, google 'botnet' and thats about 85% of my proof.

Q: So the severs were attacked?
A: Yes the servers were attacked.

Q: How long will east be down?
A: From the amount of attacks, im guessing a few hours.

Q: Can it be down alot longer?
A: Yes.

Q: Will the servers suck now that they were attacked?
A: No, the servers will not be any worse off than they were, infact, if anything they will be better off after the servers internet is restored.

More detailed:

The botnet attacked the main IP Address of the USEast servers with over 1.6k Users, with over 1000kb/s Attacks. The servers have basicly been DDos's google this, im not explaining it to much.

people need to read it isnt a new patch..

and shift, it needs to be stickyed because im saying a few hours, iv botnet'd websites that have stayed down for a few days.. only way to fix a ddosed internet is well.. to have new inet. untill the ddosed 1 is back up

east will probalyl be down till mid 2morrow or longer

A botnet with 1600 USERS, HOLY ****! I don't know how the guy kept the botnet server up, Jesus...

I don't do things like this, but my buddy does. He has a botnet with maybe 20 people and it lags like hell, I still can't believe someone was able to DOS UsEast... that would take so much power it is not even funny...

A botnet is a group of computers being controlled and manipulated, often without the owners knowledge, by one person. The person is often sent a file that they open, therefore allowing the hacker control of certain things on their computer. He uses the people on the botnet to spread the file more through their MSN\AOL conversations, and in some cases, to launch a massive "spam" attack on certain people or servers (also known as a Denial of Service attack), in hopes it will disconnect them. He usually can keep full control of the group using something such as an IRC channel, which he has set up.

Hope they arrest the shits.

im proud someone acutally understands, but over 1.6k users is spread over 3 servers not just one.

Somehow I don't think you do. That stuff can get you arrested for years, not even the odds of you knowing them is low, but the odds of them telling someone? I wouldn't tell a soul...

1.) it can get you arrested.
2.) it being traced to you is unlikely if you know what your doing.
3.) i watched him do it through VNC (a type of program who lets me watch his computer) www.vnc.com

I never said I would trace it, but you don't think that Blizzard would have the kind of security to trace it with ease? He is playing Russian Roulete man, he could get put away into jail for putting down Bnet UsEast for a few hours (perhaps longer)? I hope they drag his ass away.

You should have screenshotted it, you could have blanked out the IRC name and his name, just showed him commanding the DOS and them doing it. At least then we would know you are not some idiot looking for his 10-seconds of fame.
