Thumbs up TheDOMINATOR's Cold Inferno Sorceress Guide.

THIS GUIDE WAS WRITTEN BY TheDOMINATOR(http://www.diablo2.com/forum/showthread.php?t=383). I apologize to TheDOMINATOR for this guy ripping the guide; he has dealt with. Good day.

This, I have found, is truly one of, if not THE most powerful Sorceress builds. The Cold Inferno Sorceress DOMINATES in PvM, is decent in PvP, and is an all-around powerful while fun Sorc build to play by me.

    Skills

    Inferno: 20 pts
    Warmth: 20 pts
    Fire Mastery: 20 pts
    Frozen Orb: 20 pts
    Shiver Armor: 10-20 pts
    Cold Mastery: 5-10 pts

Why Inferno and not Fireball or some other attacking Fire Skill? Well, at high levels, Inferno shoots completely across the screen and beyond - hitting any adversary in its path w/ massive F.DMG per SECOND. In my opinion, for a PvM/PvP hybrid Sorc, Inferno beats Fire Ball by a long shot. Inferno's one of those over-looked skills that become REALLY powerfull at higher levels and w/ its synergy MAXed.

Why MAX Warmth & Fire Mastery? Well, Warmth not only lets you recover Mana at a much higher rate (which is crucial) but does a +13% F.DMG synergy bonus to Inferno, and Inferno is your main attack. For this Sorc build, its mandatory that you MAX Warmth AND Fire Mastery - w/ all 3 of these Fire Skills MAXed, your Inferno will be doing 4000-5000+ F.DMG per second which is quite impressive ... considering also that it can hit multiple enemies simultaneously.

Why Frozen Orb and not Blizzard? Well, I personally prefer F.Orb over Blizzard both in PvP and PvM. If you're adament about Blizzard, feel free and go for the old favorite, but F.Orb can hit literally EVERY enemy on the screen ... and it looks very impressive visually, and that's part of what video-gaming is all about, right?

Why Shiver Armor - or any Cold Armor for that matter? This part is personal preference. All 3 of the Cold Armors have their strengths and weaknesses. I tend to like Shiver Armor, but go w/ whatever 1 you feel fits your needs best. However, it would be unwise to put NO pts in ANY of the Cold Armors or else your Sorc wouldn't stand a chance against Barbs, WWs, WBs, or Paladins, and her life would be tough battling foes like Duriel and the Ancients w/o 1 of her trusty Cold Armors. So, pts in one of these skills 4 this build is, more or less, mandatory.

Why Cold Mastery? ... Why not? With the build you've got going on, there are few alternatives, and besides - w/ pts here you're secondary attack - F.Orb - will do more C.DMG.

    Stats

Strength: 75-100 ... Enough to wear the good items.
    Dexterity: NONE
Vitality: 125-225 ... More Life = A Sorc less likely to die.
    Energy: THE REST

    Items

Weapon: Leaf 'ed Staff that already has +3 Inferno/+3 Fire Mastery/+3 Orb

    For final mods of...

    +3 Fire Skills
    +6 Inferno (+9 total ... WOW!)
    +3 Warmth (+6 total)
    +3 Fire Bolt
    +3 Frozen Orb
    +3 Fire Mastery (+6 total)
+2-198 Def Based on char Level
    +2 Mana per Kill
    +33% Cold Resist

    How can you beat that?

I won't go into any more particular items, but what you should look 4 specifically is items w/ + to Life, Mana, and Resistances. Keep in mind that w/ your Cold Inferno Sorceress here you will NOT need Life or Mana Leech. Otherwise, go w/ whatever items you please that make your Sorc more powerful.

    Mercenary

The MERC that no-one seems to notice: the Barb MERC of Act 5. Why? He's an AWESOME Tank, and the Sorc is unable to summon such an ally, so this MERC is vital to her survival. While the Barb MERC stands in the front lines hacking away at your enemies, you will be standing behind him letting your Inferno and F.Orbs rip.

Well, that sums it up. I hope this guide has shown you the light to making the best Sorc build out there - the Cold Inferno Sorceress! Comments/questions and suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

    Thanks,
    TheDOMINATOR

Happy Gaming and Good day yall.

*EDIT* Any feedback is appreciated. I just would like to know how I'm doing. Thanks!

get an a2 merc with insight instead of your barb guy so that you can put zero points in energy...actually, you dont even need this if you are maxing warmth. NO POINTS IN ENERGY!!

with this build you arent going to have enough points for teleport or eshield.

orb is a much better primary than inferno...if you are going to do this build, max orb first and then inferno. speaking of maxing orb, you need to max ice bolt and max cold mastery.

firewall is much better than inferno IMO.

too many points in strength...unless you have bad gear, you really only need to put at most 20-30 points in strength

gear please? whats a guide without gear?

frozen armor gives higher defense than shiver.

your saying this sorc can PvP? provide some strategies then maybe?

sorry, but this is probably one of the newbest guides of a newbish character i have ever seen....your saying this sorc is actually good? if you have her on east ladder i'd love an in-game demo. maybe you can prove me wrong..

ooo sounds like fun, i might have to make this char just for the fun of it to see how it is
its cool seeing how people make their own chars and dont follow the usual trends that people use(i follow the trends i know)

oops, my bad, it is shiver that has the highest....the middle one has the most defense if you put 1 point in each and have good +to skills, and thats shiver...not sure why i thought shiver was the first one and frozen was the second

I didn't see anyone post before him. He's the only one critiqueing your build. When someone posts a build, they need to be able to take critizism.

Dude I am sorry, but this is a very weak build. Let me explain why.

It may be able to hit multiple targets, but it does about 1/3 damage of a Fireball. Now 4-5k damage is absolute peanuts in PvP. Add in the PvP penalty of 5/6, your precious Inferno will be doing less than 1k damage. Now add in 75% fire resist (~200 damage left), 1 Dwarf Star, and this build is a pushover. you will not be able to kill MF sorcs with negative fire resists with build.

Now how about Frozen Orb? Most Orb sorcs are walkovers, unless they have amazing eq, such as perf DF, max block with SS, max DR%, max resis and 95% ES. If you don't have all of those (not counting the fact that you only put 5-10 points into Cold Mastery and don't even put anything into [pff forgot the name of the synergy for Orb]) maxed, then you don't do any damage whatsoever, not even mentioning the fact that Orb sorcs have trouble doing damage anyway.

Putting points into any of the armors is a waste. Any melee hero has more than enough AR that is required to hit pretty much any caster (except for paladins, of course [holy shield]). As for other casters, they don't need AR, as they always hit, so defence does not matter.

Unless you are going for ES (which you are not), all points in energy are a waste. Put them all into vita instead. And if you want to survive in PvP, you will NEED to have max block.

As for mercs, act5 is useless. Your best bet would be to take a2 merc with Defiance (better tank than a5 merc), and give him Infinity to boost your shitty damage a little bit.

You can just sigh over my comments (like you did over Bloodangel's), but ultimately, this build sucks balls. I like the concept, but unfortunately Hybrid sorcs were completely nerfed after 1.09.

To be honest, I really like the concept of it, but unfortunately it's not going to work out

An alternative I would consider and probably execute, especially if you wanted to duel this build, would be to ES Tank it. Max Es and telekin the rest of your points and go mostly all mana and little life. With maxed warmth and probably loads of Fire Gcs, your mana will regen at godly rates, and your es will keep you from dying.

Pvp that's what I would do. Hell, given the build, even PvM.

It's a hybrid build... With a hybrid, you barely have enough skill points to do enough damage, not even mentioning ES and Telekinesis.
