it seems you have an oudated computer, inside d2 itself there should be an instalation for a newer direct x or so it says on that pic. but heres the website to DL the direct x
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
sometimes there are computer that will glitch and you wont be able to update to
direct x 9.0c because the dxdiag will show directx 9.0b. this problem will affect you in playing games like Bf2 because it thinks you have B and not C. but since diablo requirement is low after you DL and install this it will work. Ask me if it doesnt.
Yea I have lastest DirectX installed from dxdiag info:
But in My Display ---> Settings it says 9.0b
Heres my Display info from dxdiag:

exactly, this is the problem i was talking about. if you have the latest it should say direct x 9.0c instead of B. the only way i was able to solve this problem of updating the dxdiag is getting a new version of windows with sp2. this shouldn't concer you, and this still shouldnt be interfering with diablo 2. i now suggest updating your video card driver. what is your video card anyways?
screenshot on top
first screenshot says i have 9.0c

oh oops i missed that one sorry. well, please try updating your video card thats should solve it. go to the manufacturer website and check for updates. and what is the video card?
Acually, its a integrated chip for VIA but its a S3 ProsavageDDR

sounds bad =/ you shouldn't ever buy a mobo that has an intergrated chip, its just not as good as a regular one. is it possible to find it and update that?

hmm. well thats as far as my knowledge would go. if you really want to play diablo you can buy a cheap video card that can easily play it. for about ~100 agp 256 nvidia. =/ i dont know what else to do. sorry
thats alright. thx for ur help. ill get help from blizzard support l8r. Also im thinking of upgrading the edn of this year so ill c how it goes

Might it be because you have no directdraw acceleration? I thought D2 needed both DD and D3D to run properly.
Think u cant run Direct3D and DirectDraw Accelerartions at same time but you can run DirectDraw and AGP together but it doesnt solve Video mode in Video Test

yea d2 requires direct draw, try getting dd then see if that works
DirectDraw is included in DirectX which I downlaoded and still cant dectect any Video Modes

hmm thats odd, i dont really know then cause ive got a radeon 9600xt so im doing dd and agp
Maybe this has to do with it:
Direct3D 7 test results: Failure at step 8 (Creating 3D Device): HRESULT = 0x8007000e (Out of memory)
Direct3D 8 test results: All tests were successful.
Direct3D 9 test results: All tests were successful.

uninstall 9.0b and 9.0c and reinstall just c alone. if the board is new, update the motherboard bios. some occurances could be from an image or burned cd of the game which is having a problem reading the dxdiag. make sure the integrated video is in harddrive profile and listed in properties. but youd be better off with a new video card.. windows xp depending on what the background programs are sucks up about 16.993mb video alone. which leaves you with the bare minimum requirement.
