    Default Skiptobnet issue (weird error)

Well I don't know what to call it. I have my D2 shortcut on my desktop with the path and after that I put in the "-skiptobnet" parameter. The game loads then prompts me for my Bnet password. I type that in and instead of sending me to my Bnet accounts, I get a list of characters I have on single player. WTF is up with that? Why is skiptobnet sending me to single player?

I don't want to get flamed if this is in the wrong forum. I could have put it in Tech Support but that wasn't really specific to Diablo.

its not sending you to single player its sending you to open, cause for single you dont need a password, try removing the shortcut then put it back, if that doesnt work and it keeps taking you to open bnet u might not be able to use the shortcut

You need to make sure the realm is listed right in multiplayer. Mine sends me to USEast right away. As far as I know it does not send you to open, but the realm you have selected in the game. I know I do not have issues using it...

Hmmm weird, I do have it set to the correct realm and I still get bounced back to open. I deleted the shortcut and made a new one but that didn't work.

I've been getting a lot of "access violation" errors too. Don't know if that has anything to do with it but I never got these errors before. I scaned my computer and everything came up clean.

If you agree to go through the hassle, I suggest you reinstall D2. I'm sure all your problems will be solved. Good luck.

What kind of software are you scanning with? And have you been on myspace or xanga lately? Those websites put a lot of bots and worms on you computer...they are not good. If reinstalling D2 doesnt work, then it could be a windows error. if all else fails do a system restore point to a point before the errors occured. that should fix the problem.

Thanks for all your replies. I use Avast as my anti-virus software. I scanned it today and it came up clean again. I don't use MySpace or anything like that and am careful about what I download.

    I used D2JSP and Sting's before but I don't anymore.

I was doing some Baal runz last night and keep getting the errors every thrid run so. I'm going to reinstall today and will report back. Hopefully that'll solve the problem.

I suggest if you are woried about myspace and use FireFox to get an extension called NoScript. It blocks all scripting sites automatically, and you can permit sites you wish to use JavaScript and simular scripting.

Recently JavaScript was found to be able to scan your computer for networking vulnerabillities and in some weaker systems even install malware on your PC. It has been blown out of the water and because so many sites use this (and it is enabled automatically on all browsers) security people are going nuts.

    Get back to us.

Okay I uninstalled Diablo, restarted then reinstalled (which didn't take as long as I thought).

The weird skiptobnet issue is resolved. The "access violation" did show up once tonight, much less than before, but nevertheless, it showed up.

I should also note that I turned off the Diablo music / sounds and listen from my playlist. Makes Baal runz that much easier.

    Thanks all for your help.

Thanks wm_hunter for the NoScript info.

Well I'm getting reamed with access violation errors so I'm guess I'm 1 for 1.

    Maybe I'll format rofl.
