I laughed when I read everyone's "emo" comments. You guys really have no idea what an "emo" person is, so just stop now before you make yourselves look dumber.
As for the OP, that's life. You will always run into more assholes than good people, and you cant expect much more than that. Giving up though would be rather dumb.

I sort of understand the feeling. I help out people a lot and the most I get is like you said a thanks or a thumbs up. When you need help in return.
