    Default Hitler

    He stood tall and proud
    An emblem of strength
No one knows the lies he told
    To get him here today

    They only see that smile
Not the cruel gleam in his eye
    How many were tortured
Before he got his way in life?

Can they not see that darkness inside him
or the future soon to come
When the Jews of Germany cry
    'Run, my children, run!'?

No, they only see his pride
As he gives his little speech
About how he will go around
And give power to the weak

Soon this man will be known
By the darkness in his eyes
The threats beneath that cold malicious
    Smile that is too bright

Soon this man will be heard of
    In history books that say
'How could we have ever trusted this man,
    so unbelievably insane?'

But for now we all watch him
    And listen to his plans
    Until the Jews start crying
    Dying by his hand

Very dark and thought provoking. Many do not realize that the Russians killed just as many Jews.Albeit in a different manner.

I agree with Pam. History is written by the winners, and although the holocaust was ugly and brutal, Germany's hand in it was just as extreme. The Russians killed and discriminated against the Jewish people, while keeping their image good by swapping sides and attempting to liberate the German concentration camps on a later date.

There have also been far worse genocides (specifically in the Middle East\Africa)... all in all a good poem and well written.

I wasn't specifically saying that the Holocaust was the worst thing in history, it was just a random thought and the poem was born because of it.
