Ok, the only hint I will give(and this can be a riddle in itself) the "I" in question is no animal, yet it does need plenty of food and space to ive and grow.

Sounds like a plant,maybe a tree or an Ivy. It is fairly ambiguoisly worded,like your riddle about leather.

They shouldn't be hard for you at all...you already said you looked all these up.

Foe your riddle I think an atmospheric gas,since the sea and what we breath are similar in compounds.

I do them myself to see if they are impossible or not. And no, the answer isn't "an atmospheric gas". Bit of a vague answer, as there are so many atmospheric gases.
