-hunterX-, If you are talking about the fire and cold sides of the bow and crossbow skills on an amazon then either one is as good as the other. Freezing arrow is a good crowd control skill, it deals about 1,000 damage when synergised with cold arrow and also the damage is carried into the splash. However, the freezing effect is only carried by the arrow itself. But with a good chance to piere then you can easily get upto 3,000 or 4,000 with 3 freezing arrows if they hit. Imho, fire zons are more versatile, because both immozons and explodazons are effective.

    Equipment

Here is a run down on bows and crossbows for each build (frost maiden, explodazon & immozon)

    Hellrack

    Two-Hand Damage: (89-105) To (254-300) (171.5-202.5 Avg)
    Required Level: 76
    Required Strength: 163
    Required Dexterity: 77
    Base Weapon Speed: [10]
    +180-230% Enhanced Damage (varies)
100-150% Bonus To Attack Rating (varies)
    Adds 63-324 Fire Damage
    Adds 63-324 Lightning Damage
    Adds 63-324 Cold Damage
    +20% Increased Attack Speed
Level 18 Immolation Arrow (150 charges)
    Socketed (2)

With the level 18 Immolation Arrow and maxed synergies you can easily obtain 1,000 damage with this crossbow. A better alternative but harder to obtaion would be...

Hand of Justice Sur + Cham + Amn + Lo

100% Chance To Cast Level 36 Blaze When You Level-Up
100% Chance To Cast Level 48 Meteor When You Die
Level 16 Holy Fire Aura When Equipped
    +33% Increased Attack Speed
    +280-330% Enhanced Damage
    Ignore Target's Defense
    7% Life Stolen Per Hit
    -20% To Enemy Fire Resistance
    20% Deadly Strike
    Hit Blinds Target
    Freezes Target +3

Now, you can socket the runes into either a bow or a crossbow. I myself would go with a bow for the faster speed. Either way with a runeword like this would make any fire zon "better" than a cold zon, imo.

If you want to go the explodazon route and cant afford the above runes then another alternative would be...

    Kuko Shakaku

    Two-Hand Damage: (25-28) To (72-81) (48.5-54.5 Avg)
    Required Level: 33
    Required Strength: 53
    Required Dexterity: 49
    Base Weapon Speed: [0]
    +150-180% Enhanced Damage (varies)
Fires Explosive Arrows Or Bolts [Level 7]
    Piercing Attack (50)
    Adds 40-180 Fire Damage
+3 To Immolation Arrow (Amazon Only)
+3 To Bow And Crossbow Skills (Amazon Only)

With the above bow you get a level 10 exploding arrow (7+3) With maxed fire arrow and maxed exploding arrow you could easily get 1,000 damage with this and also exploding arrow works with enchant so demon limb on switch could make you a powerful force.

Now moving onto the frost maiden . You have a wide choice of bows available to you but the one that catches my eye is...

    Wizendraw

    Two-Hand Damage: 5 To (30-32) (17.5-18.5 Avg)
    Required Level: 26
    Required Strength: 40
    Required Dexterity: 50
    Base Weapon Speed: [10]
    +70-80% Enhanced Damage (varies)
    +50-100 To Attack Rating (varies)
    Fires Magic Arrows [Level 5]
    20% Increased Attack Speed
    Cold Resist 26%
    +15 to Energy
    +30 to Mana
-(20-35)% To Enemy Cold Resistance (varies)

Now there may be other suitable bows for you but when deciding on an end game bow for a frost maiden, -% enemy cold resist is inportant and also +to energy or mana in this case both.

    Skills

    Fire zon variants:

    Immozon,

    Main Skills:
    -20 Immolation Arrow
    -20 Exploding Arrow
    -1 in pereq's (1)

    Passives:
    -17 Valk
    -4-9 Pierce
    -2-6 D/A/E
    -1 in pereq's (5)

    Explodazon,

    Main Skills:
    -20 Fire Arrow
    -20 Exploding Arrow

    Passives:
    -17 Valk
    -4-9 Pierce
    -2-6 D/A/E
    -1 in pereq's (5)

    Frost Maiden,

    Main Skills
    -20 Cold Arrow
    -20 Freezing Arrow
    -1 in pereq's (1)

    Passives:
    -17 Valk
    -4-9 Pierce
    -2-6 D/A/E
    -1 in pereq's (5)

    Stats

Str, base with + to stats bringing it to about 70. But anywhere from base to 50 shoulb be enough depending on end game equipment.

Dex, Rest of points should go here.

Vit, imo 100 should be enough.

Energy base to 75. Despite what people say at the end of the day your a mana burner when using the above skills. So points here is not a waste.

    Hope this helps,

Basically, if your zon is good with piercing then being able to freeze a mob of enemies in hell will do you much more good than immo will. Thats the main reason cold is used over fire, to crowd control via freezing.
