Modding in v1.12 Help

I am very new to modding and have read many tutorials, but all of the tutorials are for versions 1.10. I keep getting errors when trying to begin the game, I can select singleplayer, but once i choose a character, I get an "UNHANDLED EXCEPTION: ACCESS_VIOLATION (c0000005)" Error and the game crashes. Ive deleted all of the .bin files within the mod folder, but that doesn't seem to do anything much. Is there a new way to start your mod in v1.12? Or is there some trick im missing?

Also Once I select single player, the button that would normally say "Create New Character" says, "Bonus to Attack Rat Character".

Try asking over at http://phrozenkeep.planetdiablo.gamespy.com/ because those guys are the experts at Diablo 2 modding. However, I believe many of those tutorials are for 1.10 because many modders intentionally mod for people who use v1.10 (this allows for easier modding and testing). Anyways, hope you can find someone over there who can help you with your problems. Good luck.
