It was just too overpowered. It made you rely on it way too much and without runewords, your chars basically could never be as good....

hey you can be just as good without runewords, you just find alternitives.

Runewords made it possible to do the game by yourself. It also gave variety to it, as I could almost guarantee that the sorce was overused before 1.10.
Enigma did make things alot easier, BUT in some cases it made things a little TOO easy.
Before runewords came out Diablo was actually fun in both the PvM aspects and PvP aspects. Having to actually walk through a dungeon opening doors and finding the right path is what Diablo does best.
Boo only barbs. Witch doc =/= necro. And they better have a wizard or something to replace the sorceress. I am really that pallys and druids aren't being brought back. Maybe we'll have like knights and shamans to replace them or something.
It kinda amuses me that they are only bringing back my least favorite of the classes.
I'm really by this thread.
People, when you look at role playing games, what are the characters in it?
You're going to get the core characters and sub-characters with the 5. May not go how you want it, but a sorceress is a definite core character. If they don't have a character with at least 2/3rds likeness to the D2 sorce, then I'll be . And there will also be the D3 version of the rogue/amazon.
Flaws I see so far.
Necro wasn't perfect. The creatures died too easily in hell mode.
Sorceress could have been split up.
They can make more then 5 classes so why so lazy on that all the time?
I like.
The invention of new class.
Better online play.
Better graphics from what little I see.
So So.
Witch Doctor has some nifty abilities but is a toe to toe class.
They have three classes we don't know and have always had a warrior, mage, and rogue. What is the rogue one.
That the gamers con they only showed the witch doctor from what G4 had said which makes me sad. I wanted to see the fixes on the barb.
It's true they were the bomb, i remember when i first played diablo it was like i haven't even noticed the other classes, too bad people don't like it that mouch, maybe because of the fact that it's not as simple as pressing click on the enemy to kill him/it but the witch doctor is not that bad either, it's pretty similar with the necromancer and he comes from the same lands as our english buddy, which is kurast, only he's more kurast-like than the necromancer cuz till i read the d2 manual i didn't have a clue where the necromancer comes.

The Barbarian is my favorite character so I'm happy he's back. Think about it, what would D3 be if there were no characters that could tank monsters/a boss? There has to be at least one tank character, so of course you need a barbarian. With casters/ranged characters, it's pretty much open to imagination. A Barbarian really is just melee attack skills+lots of life/def.
As for the necromancer being too good, YES! For battle.net it's hard to tell what character is the best because of all the godly gear, but on single player its obvious. My summoner has played on /players 8 all the way through nm act 5 and has never had a real challenge.
As long as darkness flows through my veins, I will never cease, As long as my dreams still haunt me, I will never show mercy, and as long as evil lives I will never die.....
I agree.
Summoners in sp are simply unstoppable.
I hit Hell Baal the first time with 15 Necroskeletons + 8 Skeletal Mages + 1 Clay Golem (with 25k Life) + 18 Revived + Decrepify Curse...
Baal was slowed to a crawl and raped within seconds.
Not a single minion lost. No challenge.
Ciao ciao : )
I would have to see some really impressive changes when D3 comes out for... and hold on to your seats here... me to even get it.
I played D2 a lot. Like a hell of a lot. Off and on for several years. It was a great game. But the one thing that it lacked that is probably the most essential part of any game. Substance. Longevity. I had several characters in their 80's with pretty godly gear, but it didn't even require a "falling-out" with the game to steer me away from it to other games.
I think the reason for that is that it was more of a satisfaction to a gamer's OCD. Making a perfect character, getting the best gear, and being able to kill things the fastest. That's how all games are, but D2 was repetitive. You aren't going up against new monsters that are harder, you're going up against the same monster. It's pretty blah.
A lot of people play D2 for the PvP, and maybe PvP is a whole other world that I never fully experienced, but I didn't think it was really all that interesting or fun. It was mostly just a bunch of people teleporting around each other and chancing hits on one another. Meh.
If D3 proves to be something really amazing, then I'll get it, but I don't think I can see that happening unless they do content patches, like WoW, although they aren't going to be asking for monthly subscriptions.
So it's iffy. I almost want to buy it just because it's a Blizzard game though. We'll see.
I must say i am that he necro was considered the *almost perfect character* if anything i thaught paladin lol he is definantly most used and one of the most powerfull chars online. At any rate i am sad that the necro will not be returning to the game but the witch doctor looks very promising. The barbarian seems to be almost exactly like i had wanted him in diablo 2, their was very low screen clearing potential, but now he seems to be very very effective as a room clearer instead of just a tank and i look foreward to playin as the barb again .
agree totally, i did play D2 avidly when iw as younger about 13 to 14. But it just got soo repetitive, even when 1.11 came out with that whole new key thing. It seemed all every1 wanted to do was get rushed and get the best items. Soj's became worth so much and the worth of runes fluctuated so much it was ridiculous. There was nothing in that game that kept me there. I prefer games with substance and the opportunity to work coop...also a must is a great story line that can be followed. WoW definitly delivered that to me, it has been the only game that i have made really good friends in so much that we message each other regularly on msn.
MS-Paint at its finest.
One thing I don't get is that the Wizard is pretty much the same as the Sorcerer, except some new moves and a different name, but the Barbarian has different moves too, so why rename one and not the other? Just seems odd to me.
