I've always liked writing short stories so i started up again. Plus this one can be used when the short story unit turns up in English!
Check it out, its the first chapter.
Its in the Sci-fi genre which is probably one of my favourites since The Chrysalids, and Ender's game.
Does it grip you by the first couple of lines? How bout the rest? If you find any holes in it please let me know i spent a couple of hours trying to fix some:P
Oh and i have the file dated. So none of yall new ppl try to copy it and publish it (heh)!
Ch 1

‘you’re killing him, you know that right?’
‘Im just pushing his limits, hes not gona break don’t worry’
‘For god sakes! You’ve said that about every kid that’s walked in this place…and what happened? Huh? What happ--’
‘shutup and look moron’

The girl with the white lab coat looked through the one-sided glass. ‘So what he stopped, hes not dead but he hasn’t passed either’ The girl said.
‘Did you know he was a musician back on Earth?’
‘The hell does that have to do with anything, look he’s in limbo. I’m tired, lets get the kid and call it a day huh’
‘Always the impatient one Star, I hated you for that back in school’
‘And you still slept with me, so what does that tell you,’ Star said in a snappy sort of annoyed tone, “that’s right….”

‘It tells me I must have been really drunk than’ Ep said with a grin and gave Star that look.

‘I tell you, this kid is as stubborn as you were back then. He’s been in there for more than 36 hours just tapping the walls.’, ’Ahhh sigh, maybe he has broke. Insanity counts right?”

‘Star shutup, this guy scored a 78 on his BLI’s; he definitely isn’t insane’
‘I was just kidding…’
‘not funny’
‘I hate you’
‘you love me’

Crash. Ep and Star look through the window to see the kid bashing away at one of the aluminium coated walls with one of the steel legs of his bed. Crash, crash, crash like a cymbal.

‘I told you he was insane’ Star said.
‘Shutup’

Ep walks out of the observation room and down a couple of hallways that make the perimeter of the test room. He palms the monitor that controls entry into the test room. The hatch opens and the kid inside stops and looks at Ep with a why are you bothering me look. ‘I see you got bored’ Ep said with humour.

‘I’m not bored”
‘that what where you doin’ huh?’
‘leaving’
‘Heh well the door is he--’

The aluminum coated wall collapsed ******ds. It was a hollow wall with just thin sheets of aluminum covering either side by 8 spot welds.

‘See’
‘How did you do that? Never mind…those cheap bastards said they built me an observatory to SIF standards my ass..’
Ep sighed with neutrality, ‘no point keeping you here now is there?’
Star looked through the glass and was totally confused. The two come back to the observatory clad with shiny metal fixtures and devices and fancy aluminium paneled walls. The kid looked at Star, she was of medium height and hair length. Her dark brown her rested onto her shoulders which contrasted well with her piercing green eyes. Her face was slightly thin with curvy lips and a small nose. She wasn’t the most beautiful girl the kid had seen but he definitely knew why Ep digged her.

‘I totally understand how you could dig this chick’ the kid said.
‘Wait what? You don’t know we’re engaged’ Star blurted out

‘Its kinda obvious’

‘uhh err whatever. Look, I brought you here to talk about your results’

‘So I didn’t pass, whatever. I wana go home’

Star stepped backwards and leaned with one elbow on the high counter. Ep looked at her and they both smiled.

‘No no no, you did pass. Yea that whole thing right there definitely made you pass. But not with flying colours you see? Like it wasn’t what we expected from you’ Ep explained.

‘Maybe that test was a fluke Ep, theres a definite chance…’

‘I didn’t fluke’

‘These results don’t back up your thesis’

‘I don’t care, I want to go home. I’ve played your game and I want to go home now’

‘Yea and you ruined one of our walls’ Star rebutted.

‘You told me to find something wrong with the room and I did. That wall should have been solid’

‘Yea but that’s not what everyone goes for, they usually go for the Plasma torch with no gas in it or the atomic clock that didn’t decay, not the dam wall.’

‘Im different then’

“yea I guess you are’ Star said. The two SIF Psychoengineers sent the kid to the sleeping quarters along with the rest of the trials than they palmed the monitor in the observation room muttered a few phrases and shutdown the facility. They started to walk down the hallway, ‘I still don’t get it Ep, the torch means sense of matter, the clock means sense of time, the lights means sense of the spectrum, but what the hell does the wall mean?.. Maybe we cooked him, we were beaming a lot of IF through those lights weren’t we?’

‘Its harmless from that distance…but yea I don’t know we’ll have to talk to Terry about it I guess’
‘Ugh I hate that guy’
‘Yea, I know’
The two left and went to the scientist dormitories. At the entrance there were two doors, one for female and one for male. They stopped at the entrance.
‘Hey, what was that kids name anyways?’ Star asked
‘Oh. Tag I think. That was his name’
‘Tag huh’
They bade each other goodbye and left. To them, Tag wasn’t special. He wasn’t unique. And he definitely didn’t have any senses. They were ignorant that way, they just couldn’t realise Tag had the most unique sense of all.

----
Tag looked up to the ceiling from his bunk. The rest of the kids were sleeping now. He thought to him self of his home back on Earth. His sister and two other brothers. Soon they would be coming here too he thought. God damn it he thought. Why did mother make us this way? She always said we were unique. I don’t want it anymore he thought. I just want to go back home.
Home was about 600,000km away.
