D2NT 'n' Vista- Cannot save character file.

Hey, Mob, assuming you're the one that will answer this, I searched this on google and couldn't find anything.

I can't save my character config file. I go into it, edit it, click save, and I get a popup error message saying "Cannot create the C:/Program Files/D2NT/scripts/config/NTConfig_Paladin/ShinyPants.ntl file. Make sure the path and file name are correct." Afterwards it gives me the option of saving manually, so I throw the .ntl ont he end of the file and click save, and it says that the file already exists, asks me if I want to replace it, I click yes, and it gives me the cannot create file message again.

I'm using Vista and D2NT 1.7.2

Any idea on what to do?

it sounds like for whatever reasons you dont have write permissions in that folder
try associating that .ntl file with notepad. (if you havent already done that)
and i thought that you just added your character name after the NTConfig_Paladin...
ill have to look at it when i get home

I have it open in notepad by default, and I had to edit the skills to use when fighting as well as the inventory map so I don't drop stuff everywhere. I tried copy/pasting an already editted file into the folder, and that worked, but it's annoying to have to do.

On a side not, some ****er named Roy is using my CD-Key from time to time. Any way I can screw him over, besides staying logged in 24/7? Probably not, but I figure it's worth asking.

if you are able to copy and paste it over, then you definitely dont have a permission issue. weird
anyhow, i doubt you can do anything against roy. just stay on 24/7. that will hopefully discourage him
