Many a botting question from someone who hasn't done it before

Alright so I've been playing D2 since practically its release on and off, i had stupidly geared characters(mostly paladins) time and time again, but once i got bored soloing uber trist i would always stop, then my account would get deleted and i would have to start all over. I'm looking to start playing again but this time i want to try botting because im not up for the massive time involved with grinding out all of the shit ive already had. That said, i have many a question and i appreciate any help you guys can give me.

The bot program im planning on using is D2NT, and ive been looking over all of the forums about it and while most of it is all greek to me i assume that once i start playing around with it ill get enough of an understanding for it to function well. Seeing as Im starting fresh i wanted to know what class i should start my bot off with, I'm well aware of how beast hammerdins are but you cant teleport without enigma and i cant see botting effectively without teleport, so im thinking a lightning sorc may be the way to go until i get the wealth for a hammerdin since they have teleport as a skill, but im a little worried about the gear req for sorcs to become really good and the immune mobs in hell till i can get infinity

Another question i have is if theres any real downside to doing it all on ladder for the ladder-onlys, since it recently reset, or should i stick with nonladder so theres more of a pool of goodies that ill have access to?

Eventually i want to get a geared bot at a high level and tweak the way he bots for my needs at the time. Now i have way more questions than that but those are the ones i need advice on atm, so i can at least get started and ill ask the others later! like i said above, any help is greatly appreciated. Any advice for a first time botter? things you wish you knew before you started?

Hello, and welcome to the forum!

You can start your bot out on den of evil and blood raven, and work your way up from there.

Unfortunatly, you will have to personally go to the Tree of Infuniss and get the scroll to get to trist. THe bot only runs what you have available, and you'd have to personally do the quests.

Can't say about a downside on ladder, other than the extra runewords you can made :)

You can still make and use a Hammerdin over a sorceress. To be honest, an enigma is 100x cheaper than an infinity. Yes, going without teleport will significantly limit what your able to run with the bot but its just a suggestion. Things I know you can still run are Eldritch/Shenk/Pindleskin. There may be more but I don't know them off hand and I don't have access to my desktop yet. Nonetheless, without infinity, a sorceress will have severe trouble in Hell. You would be limited to places you know you won't run into immunes at, like meph.

As to Ladder or Non-Ladder its nothing more than a matter of preference. Just remember that if you play non, the market has been flooded 10x over and it would be much harder to sell what you find however it will be much easier and cheaper to buy what you need. Nothing more than preference.
