Default Ladder Reset: Sorc vs. Hammerdin

I've always been a big fan of making a sorc, typically cold, whenever ladder resets but now I've been wondering and questioning whether being a fresh Sorc with teleport farming hell is even viable anymore against the easily more powerful hammerdin even without teleport.

I think Sorcs need a lot more gear than a hammerdin to even come close to equal the same amount of power. Correct me if i'm wrong here.

So my question is, is it better to start out with a hammerdin and farm hell? or is it better to stick with leveling a cold sorc and try to farm hell?

    Please share your thoughts?

I guess the first ? would be are you going to use a bot or play manaul - I would think starting off with a sorc if that is the only char you can play at a time because of the fact she can teleport and if you start off with a paly you will have to run to every place - that would be up to how you like to play
and for the gear since a sorc can teleport doen't need much to get started and can I believe a lot of the gear in nm and the same for a paly you can find most of it starting gear in nm too
but to me enigma would have to be a big plus for a paly
then farming in hell if not a hammer din I probably go with a dual spect light sorc

As a manual player, I like blizzard/static-telekenisis and merc to farm early on. If you are smart, you can avoid death in hell. Sorc is a ranged character, with a merc and teleport. But the main reasons I used to use them early: Teleport, Quicker boss farming.
Why was it important? Because back then enigma was ultra hard to get. Bots were not common and high runes were even less common. You needed to get lucky, or trade for it.

Not now though. After bots became "it" and you could find bots running in norm/nm/hell, and people to rush you... You can have any character to lvl 90 in 3 days no problem. I have my Hdin (only character) at 85 in 2 days.

In addittion to bots flooding the market (making nm-level farmables worth northing in many cases), rune drops became more popular. Blizzard decided that to give normal players a fighting chance to keep up, they would make high runes drop more often. Enigma just isnt a terribly hard thing to get anymore. In my 2 days playing, I've already got a Hdin capable of running any boss with 150ish mf, a mercenary that dies maybe every 3rd boss fight, and Ist Mal Pul. Funny thing is that I still get better loot following a bot through hell then on my own. So my final statement is, it doesnt matter in today's diablo 2 community. Pick the character class you want to play, or the class you want to bot with. Either way, you can earn your riches fairly easily.

That being said, Hdin bots are the best, if you have time to play.
If you dont have much time to play personally, you might want to do a blizzard or fireball sorc and spam the *&%* out of hell meph as a bot. Spend play-time to trade up for enigma and switch over to a Hdin or another character class. Thats really the key peice to a successful bot. Teleport.
