In need of help (Comp related)

Well, Im hoping some one out there can help explain what to do to set up a LAN (local area network) connection at my home, I wanna connect this comp to my other comp to play d2, cs, sc, and etc. I was asking ppl from the comp store at they said it would take me around 75-90 $ to config it for me.!!! A ****ING RIP!!, Can anyone with tech knowledge teach me how to set my lan to work? I know Burner here is a wiz kid = ). Anyone msg back plz, in need of help.

Btw, Ive tried to play Sc on both comps, and Ive managed to make my game show up on their 'CREATE GAME' list, but after I press OK to join, it says : UNABLE TO JOIN GAME.

Whew nvm, i got it done. 3 hours work baby = P, and them damn comp techys wanted 75 to set it up for me, hah. Thx anyway guys.
