Best Games Ever Made

I can't believe some of you would actually laugh at Doom being on the list and another thinks Half-Life doesn't deserve it...Just so you know Doom kind of started the FPS craze back in the days when Sonic and Mario were on top of the market. As for Half-Life, when Half-Life was released it won more game of the year awards than any other game before it and with it's mod friendly engine it allowed mods like Counter-Strike, Day of Defeat, and Sven Co-Op to come out. (Which reminds me does anybody know if there is Sven Source out?)

Now, games I think qualify for such a list based on genre
RPG:
Final Fantasy VII and Tactics
Baldur's Gate
Chrono Trigger
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

Action/Adventure/Fighting (I don't play these genres much so they get one category on my list):
Mario Bros. 3
Double Dragon (I just threw that one cause I used to be obsessed)
Street Fighter II
Soul Calibur

Racing/Cars:
Mario Kart 64
Gran Turismo
Twisted Metal II

FPS:
Half-Life
Doom
Goldeneye
Perfect Dark

Those are my choices out of the genres I actually do play. You can agree or you can disagree it's up to you...but seriosly, who can argue Mario 3?

I am not a "Gamer" However stating this in advance,let me say I have watched my kids play a LOT of games and some looked really cool.

lol i owned legend of zelda: a link to the past. i could never beat that game it was uber hard. I also owned/played super mario brothers 3, legend of zelda: ocarina of time(awesome but hard too), super mario world/super mario brothers 3. lol a michael jackson game was up there.

Spoon you are missing the origional quake. Quake was what spurred almost every game to allow free multiplayer. It also was an easily-moddable game that was responsible for mods like CTF or Team Fortress. It was the first game where the WADS + mlook key configuration became a must

I'd throw Tenchu games in there as well. It takes a lot of skill to sneak a whole mission and kill them all in stealth. Was very fun.

How did Perfect Dark make my list? Because it had everything Goldeneye had x3. It was everything I could hope for at the time for a multiplayer console shooter. I used to spend hours at a time with friends and family locked up in my bedroom only taking breaks for bathroom and getting another bag of chips.

As for Quake, I'd say Unreal Tournament over Quake, while I enjoyed Quake Unreal Tournament is what got my friends and I hooked. Also, Quake 64...that game made my insides bleed when I tried to play it.

who ever thinks that perfect dark sucks deserves to be killed and raped by hobos in a back alley PD made fps fun as hell with the alien sniper rifle >.> forgot the name of the damned thing and the labtop guns and the customizabe characters elvis' head on the largest body in the game XD i wish i never sold my damned n64

That may be true but Unreal Tournament remains a better game in my eyes and that's what this is about is it not? The best games ever, meaning the most well made and enjoyable games I assume.

I see your reasoning. Different strokes I suppose, I stayed loyal to the quake series before my good compter went to shit on me. I did play UT2k5 for a while but that was when my system was showing it's age. But I did have lots of fun on it

Guess I cant bash on Perfect Dark too much then, I never played the 64 version yet I've never seen it included amongst the greatest games and from what I understand the latest installments have been rather lackluster.

I have a TV set up in the bathroom with my old sega. I play Sonic 3 and Road Rash on it all the time, and sometimes the origional Mortal Kombat

I wish they'd make a new road rash...

I'd have to say, the best game ever made, was the 1st mario, for nes. That game was amazing, also the Duck hunt game with the little plastic gun, hehehe. Another great game, Metal Gear Solid 2 for PS1. :p
