Fuggle Review: Rockband
#1
Rockband
Xbox 360

Well I was sitting around, bored as usual, so I decided to toss 180$ towards Rockband. Now while the price is may seem extreme, 180$ = 3x regular 60$ games, and you are getting basically Guitar Hero 4, Drum hero, and Mic? hero.

Now I was skeptical on the Singing portion because I have nothing close to a singing voice, and I was like **** that shit, however once I started playing it, I really got into it. Drums destroys my foot from the bass pedal, Guitar eventually gives me wicked hand cramps after like awhile of playing, but using the mic really doesn't make me want to stab myself in the eye mid song to get the pain away from my hand/foot like it's sometimes come to. It basically plays like suped up Karaoke, you have the words go across and gotta hold pitch with the little bar. Sounds gay, is actually mighty fun. Some songs like the Beastie Boys song actually has no pitch to hold, since it's all "talking" I guess, you just say the words lol.

Drums, Wow tons of fun. You have the 4 pads, and a movable Bass Pedal. Pretty cool. The way it works is, it has the 4 colors that correspond to the pads on screen, with a yellow/white line that goes across horizontally to signify bass. I've never played Drums IRL, so getting a separate rhythm with my foot and hands was kinda difficult. Although I've progressed pretty far, atm I'm going through Hard mode. All my retarded friends can't even do Medium and we've been playing it about same amount of time, course I'm like god of games, so it's acceptable.

Guitar, what can I say it's like guitar hero, except easier, but to counter that they gave you a retarded controller that breaks easy (First gen only, I had to send mine back to rockband to replace the retarded strum thing, anybody with a first gen one can do that cause they announced the problem). Still waiting on it to come back, however you can use the Guitar hero controller on it, but not Rockband on guitar hero. It was a cool idea, to have the 5 frets up top (all touching no gap or sticking out like GH) as usual, but higher up on the fretboard are the 5 notes again, but for "mad solo skillz". I've used those maybe 5 times when bored. Waste of time really, they announce the solo part, and you can go down to the higher frets and supposedly have some benefit, but it's pointless. When my guitar worked, I was able to 99+% most songs in expert. The notes give much less room for error, guitar hero you could be off by like 2 seconds sometimes and it'd count lol . Those coming from Guitar hero will consider the controller shitty and stiff.
Song choice. Wow **** guitar hero, these songs rock. I know almost all of them, and there's even a South park song in it.

Song Choice - 10/10
Drums - 10/10
Mic - 10/10
Guitar - 5/10
Fact that you can play with 3 other friends together or online- 10/10

Overall - 10/10. Buy this game.

Mic Hero = Sing Star. Yes, a game like that does exist.
