..:: Introduction ::..
Hi, I’m Espada and today I’ll be sharing with you all my guide on how to construct a pure vita Bone Necromancer. What’s great about this char is versatility and you are able to possibly defeat any class. In some cases you might need to stack but anyways on with the guide.
Some terminology that you might find helpful
FCR = Faster Cast Rate
FHR = Faster Hit Recovery
FRW = Faster Run Walk
WSG = Weapon Switch Glitch

History – In the 1.10 patch, Necromancers used the marrowwalk bug which transfer the the bone prison charges given on the boots to be used as synergy. Thus Necromancers was possibly the most feared character in pvp back in 1.10. Today this bug does not exist, the bug was removed but this does not stop the Necromancer from being one of the top tier chars in pvp.

Pros:
High 3k-4k Life
5k Magic Damage
Versatile Gear Switch
Cons:
No Max Block

..:: Stats ::..
Heres a breakdown of a Necromancers starting stat points.
- Strength – 15
- Dexterity – 25
- Vitality – 15
- Energy – 25
- Stamina- 79
- Mana - 25
Every time your Necromancer gains a level you receive:
-+1.5 to Life
-+1 to Stamina
-+2 Mana

Since we are a pure vitality Necromancer, we will allocate the majority of our stat points into vitality. Before placing all your points into vitality make sure you have all your gears/items equipped first. This means you’ll need to place your points into strength enough to wear gear.
( *Don’t forget to finish your side quests Lam Esen’s Tome (+5 Stat Points) and The Golden Bird (+20 Life). In total you will receive +15 Stat Points and +60 Life for Normal, Nightmare, and Hell )

..:: Breakpoints ::..
Breakpoints are a key element in pvp. When it comes to breakpoints, this can determine the winner of a duel. A bone nec with 125% fcr will always have an edge over a 75% fcr necromancer, but this will also be incorporated with strategies explained later now on with the breakpoints.

FCR Frames – This will determine your FCR.
0% - 15
9% - 14
18% -13
30% -12
48% -11
75% -10
*125%- 9
[ *Ideally you want to reach (125% - 9) ]

FHR Frames – This will determine your FHR.
0% -13
5% -12
10% -11
16% -10
26% - 9
39% - 8
56% -7
*86% -6
**152% -5
( *You should aim for (86% - 6) for most duels )
[ **Sometimes 86% won’t cut it and you’ll need (152% - 5) ]

..:: Skills ::..
Skill points are another key element for a Necromancer if the proper points are not allocated you will lose a very large proportion of balance and advantage in your Necromancer thus its important to have as many points allocated in these skill.

Teeth – 20 Points (Secondary Attack)
Bone Spear – 20 Points (Main source of attack)
Bone Spirit – 20 Points (Main source of attack)
Bone Wall – 20 Points (Secondary Defense)
Bone Prison – 20 Points
Clay Golem – 1 Point (Minion stack/Main source of Defense)
Golem Mastery – 1 Point
Amplify Damage – 1 Point (Team Dueling Curse)
Corpse Explosion – 1 Point
Bone Armor – Rest

Optional Skills:
Decrepify – 1 Point
Iron – Maiden – 1 Point

( *Don’t forget to finish your side quests this consists of Den of Evil, Radament, and Izual. In total you should receive +12 Skill Points after Normal, Nightmare and Hell )

..:: Equipment ::..
At last we come to the equipment which is one of the elements that make this build so great. In this guide I will not be going in depth on duped/rare items neither will I focus heavily on realm specific items. This guide will not be aimed toward ladder or nonladder. All gear listed is a must and this character is by no means cheap so if you’re not that rich I don’t recommend building this character.

+ Helmets +
 • Crown of Ages – An excellent helmet that offers good FHR, resistance and damage reduction. This helmet comes in either 1-2 Sockets which ideal you’ll want to place a Ber Rune and a 15/-15 Jewel (+15 Resistance/-15% Requirement)
 • Harlequin’s Crest Shako – Another superb helmet used for the massive life/mana boost, Damage Reduce and the +2 Skill Points. You can go to Larzuk to get a socket for this helmet and place a Shael Rune into this.
 • Rare/Magical Nec Circlet – Note this is strictly your Nec vs Nec circlet by no means will this circlet be used vs melee or casters. The mods that you must find is +2 Necromancer, 20 FCR, and 2 Socket. Secondary Mod that is extremely useful is FRW. In this circlet you will place 2 Shael’s.
 • Kira’s Guardian – This helmet is for use to fight elemental characters if you need to stack. In most cases like FoH Paladins or Blizz Sorc you’ll lose a lot of resists. When you put Kira’s on you make up the lost resistance.
 • 08 Valk – As I explained earlier I won’t go much into these items but if you have an 08 Valk it is a very effective item. It offers massive FCR,FHR, and FRW. The only quality it lacks is resist and DR. Generally you would socket this with a Shael Rune.
+ Armor +
 • Enigma – No choice, this will be your main armor, you will need it for the skill teleport to move effectively. The other mods necessary is the massive +strength and life boost. The other helpful mod is the Damage Reduction.
+ Weapons +
 • Heart of the Oak – This will be your main weapon. Hoto will offer +3 Skills, 40 FCR, 15% Maximum Mana, 20 Life Replenish, 40 Resists and Oak sage charges if you will ever need it.
 • Wizardspike – This will be your weapon when you fight elemental characters. It offers a vast mana boost, 50 FCR, and 75 to Resist. In most cases you’ll be using this weapon in conjunction with Kira’s since HotO is a better choice for a standard weapon.
 • White – This will be your Nec vs Nec weapon of choice. You’ll just want to aim for a +8 Spear and +6 Spirit. Or if you prefer to lean toward the BM side you can aim for a +Spear/+Revive wand.
 • Call to Arms – Used for Gaining a dramatic life boost. You must have this on your weapon switch on all times. Preferably a +6 Battle Order is necessary if not the lowest should be a +5 Battle Order.
+ Shield +
 • Spirit Monarch – The runeword Spirit has all the mods you’ll ever need in this build. This runeword offers +2 Skills, 35% FCR, 55% FHR, +112 Mana, and Resists (excluding fire). You’ll need two of these 1 for dueling and 1 for Battle Order.
+ Gloves +
 • Trang’Oul Gloves – The perfect glove for this build. This glove offers 20% FCR, +2 Curses, and 30% Cold Resist. Generally you will use this glove in every situation except for Nec vs Nec.
 • Bloodfists – You will be using this glove for your 152 FHR setup. In most cases your 152 FHR setup will be used in Nec vs Nec or Nec vs Druid. In some cases you might need 152 FHR for 102 FCR trappers but this is not needed all the time.
+ Amulets +
 • Crafted Amulet – You will be aiming for a +2 Nec, 20% FCR mods as a must for this build. With this amulet you gain a more versatile build and you will be able to switch gears effectively. Secondary mods you should aim for is +Stats, +Life, +Mana.
 • Mara’s Kaleideocope – When you find yourself not needing FCR you can use this amulet. It offers +2 Skill, stats, and resist. In some cases if you want to pre buff battle order you can use this with Shako.
+ Belts +
 • Arachid’s Mesh – Your general belt to use vs casters and in most situations. This belt offers +1 skill, 20% FCR, and Mana boost.
 • Verdungo’s – This belt will be used against most physical damage characters. The belt offers 10 FHR, +40 Vitality, 13 Life Replinish and 15% DR.
 • Thundergod’s – This belt is simply used for absorbing lightning element characters. Not much need to be said about this belt. (ex: Trap Assassin)
 • Snowclash – This belt is used to absorb cold element characters. (ex: Blizz Sorc)
 • Sigard’s Stealth – Found only in the European Realm. This belt gives a major advantage in breakpoints/stats if you are able to get one of these.
+ Boots +
 • Sandstorm Trek’s – Sandstorm Trek’s will be your main boot in almost every situation. Why Sandstorm Trek’s? Well let’s look at the mods. This boot offers 20% FHR, +Str, and +Vit. Now if you say well I’ve seen better boots then read on.
 • Rare/Duped Boots – Earlier in the guide I stated that I will not be focusing heavily on rares/duped boots, but they are generally the better choice if you are able to get one. Generally you will look for a 30 FHR/Tri Resist Boot. The secondary mods you should aim for is +stats and +FRW.
 • Hotspurs – Not much can be said about this boot. Used for sorbing fire element characters. (ex: Fireball Sorceress)
+ Rings +
 • Bul-Kathos – Your general ring if you do not require FCR. This ring offers +1 Skill and Life Boost. You can also use this ring to pre buff battle order.
 • Rare FCR Rings – You will need these to meet FCR breakpoints. What you must look for in these rings are +stats, +life, +mana and +resist.
 • Ravenfrost (x2) – You will need at least 1 Ravenfrost so you can stand a chance vs a wind druid. You will need 2 Ravenfrost to absorb against cold element characters.
 • Dwarf Star (x2) – You will need 2 Dwarf Star to absorb against fire element characters. This ring also offers +life but what you’re really looking for is the fire absorb.
 • Wisp Projector (x2) – You will need 2 Wisp to absorb against lightning element characters.
+ Charms +
 • Hellfire Torch – (+3 Necromancer, 20 Stat, 20 Resist) A must have charm in every situation
 • Annihlius – (+1 Skill, 20 Stat, 20 Resist) Same as Hellfire Torch a must have.
 • PnB Grand Charm (x9) – 45 Life
 • PnB Grand Charm – 12 FHR
 • 10x Small Charms – 20 Life is a must. The minor mods you can look for is either +5 Resist or 11% Resist to a certain element.

..:: General Strategies ::..
When you start pvp you DO NOT jump right into a duel. I recommend practicing vs. a friend as this is a great source development. First you must learn the basics. There are a few techniques that you must study. Remember to resummon golem and bone armor at all times.

Teleport/Walking – The basics to your pvp skills is know how to correctly teleport or walk in the right situations. This skill depends on which character you are dueling against. This goes for reading your opponents as well, you must learn to read your opponent’s teleport patterns/walk patterns.

Name locking – A very important technique when playing the necromancer. Generally this skill involves having your cursor over your enemies name and holding the button down on their name. Thus you will see your Necromancer’s skills such as bone spirit following your enemy. (*Note: Bone Spirit always aims for summons first thus you must name lock for wind druid or bone necs that throw up bone walls) A very good technique is to hotkey “Un-summon” and what ever skill you will use after that way your projectiles or teleport will stay on your enemy.

Chain locking – Once you master name locking you might consider chain locking. Chain locking is basically name locking without the drawbacks of losing your enemy. How do you chain lock you ask? Well its simple really. First you perform your usual namelock, once your enemy is locked, keep your button held down but move your cursor to the center of the screen (basically where your nec is), quickly switch to teleport and then back to what ever skill you used. By mastering this skill no one can escape.

Invisible Bone Spirit – A very sneaky and useful tactic. The idea behind this is the use of range. When you fire bone spirit at your opponent and then teleport till you do not see your opponent on map, the bone spirits disappear to your opponent but will still hit them.

WSG – Also known as the weapon switch glitch. This glitch is used primarily vs. a trap assassin. Basically at any time when you are hit by anything, your character enters a FHR lock animation. To prevent this, you will use this glitch which negates this FHR animation and resets it. This glitch is extremely easy to perform. All you have to do is run and while running keep rapidly tapping weapon switch and thus you have performed it.

Train – What is a train you ask? Well its just like it says a line of bone spirit lined up while you run after it. Fire one spirit follow it and at the same time fire another, thus you create a line of white death. If anyone if foolish enough to telestomp you now they probably just died.

..:: Class Specific Strategies ::..
Now that you have mastered the basics you are now ready to learn the strategies against different characters.

Paladins
Hammerdins
Difficulty: Easy
Gear: NvA (General)
Unfortunately once you have mastered walking, hammerdins are absolutely no threat at all. Let’s first analyze the hammerdin, it attacks starts at a 90 degree angle which tells us that when a hammerdin telestomps you all you have to do is walk down. If he is foolish enough to telestomp you again repeat the process. On the other hand there will be synchers, those will not be a problem either. Utilize the skill teeth to your advantage, which can help negate desynch and locate the paladin. Occasionally throw up some bone walls. If you have to run in a train go for it. If teeth isn’t working out use bone prison instead. Watch out for Liberators (Hammer/Charge) you might have to use the train method more and run south at the same time.

Smiters/Chargers/Zealers
Difficulty: Easy-Medium
Gear: NvA (Res/DR)
Another easy battle. All you have to do is use the train method and at the same time throw up 1 wall behind you. That way when the smiter is charging you he will end up hitting at a wall and during this delay a massive amount of bone spirits will swarm him. This strategy goes for teleport smiters as well except you can negate the bone wall UNLESS the smiter utilizes a mixed teleport/charge combo which can become a little harder. Remember to keep golem up. If you’re up against a bm smiter use bone prison instead of wall. This strategy goes for v/t’s as well.

FoHer/Auradin
Difficulty: Medium-Hard
Gear: Stacked/BM
Without stacked/maxed resist gear you’re probably done for in 1 shot. You’ll probably want to forget about bone spirit here as it is too slow and unefficient to kill a FoHer. In this duel you must play extremely aggressive and go for a chainlock + bonespear combo. Also you must absolutely resummon golem at all times, I can’t emphasize how important that is.

Druids
Wind Druid
Difficulty: Medium-Hard
Gear: NvA (Res/DR) 1x Ravenfrost
This can be your hardest or one of your easiest duels. If you just started playing bone necromancer, I highly advise you steer clear of wind druids till you have better practice. The strategy here is to use teeth to knock out his summons (5 wolves/oak), and finish it with bone spears. A good druid will not let you catch him without summons so make sure you have chainlock + bone spear ready. If he manages to telestomp you walk down and fire teeth/bone spear, if he telestomps you again repeat walk down. If he teleports below you teleport away. In some cases you might have to switch to a 152 FHR setup.

Fire Druid
Difficulty: Medium
Gear: NvA (Res/DR)
Not as bad as the wind druid, but this character does have potential. If volcano connects it can be fatal. In this duel, use wind druid strategy minus the walking. Teleport, teeth, chainlock, bone spear. Apply sorb if you need to, although I believe most of the fire druids skills are half physical/half fire thus your NvA (Res/DR) would be ideal.

Shapeshifter
Difficulty: Easy
Gear: NvA (General)
Basically all you have to do is play from a range, he will or should not be able to keep up with you unless he has massive frw which still usually wont be enough. The key rule here is to never telestomp him or let him get within even half a screen close. If you want you can use the train strategy as he will keep following you no matter what. Theres no point in a shapeshift druid to run away unless its rabies if that’s the case you should never let him get close to you. If you are dueling a rabies druid and your golem gets infected DO NOT I repeat DO NOT tele away you will get infected and most likely be dead in 5 second tops.

Barbarian
BvC/BvA
Difficulty: Medium-Hard
Gear: NvA (Res/DR)
This can be a very troublesome duel at times. Since you are a vita Necromancer you do not have the luxury or max block. In this duel you MUST have golem and bone armor up at all times. Also it’s best if you played from a range. One perfect DoD (Dance of Death – Which is a triangle whirlwind) can be fatal or worse death. Watch out for his leap + tele + ww combo it’s a setup for a DoD. What advise I can offer is when the barb is in his ww animation and his attack missed you. During this time the barb is most vulnerable for bone spears/spirits. In this duel I recommend bone spirit. Remember always keep moving.

Warcry Barb
Difficulty: Medium
Gear: NvA (Res/DR)
Don’t underestimate these barbs. Barbarians may look like pure melee characters but their FCR breakpoint is the exact same as the sorceress. A 200 FCR warcry barb might give you a problem if you don’t have good FHR. You can generally play against these characters like whirlwind barbs using bone spirit from a range. If you find 86 FHR not cutting it try going for 152 FHR.

Amazon
Javazon
Difficulty: Medium
Gear: NvA (Res/DR) or Stacked/BM Gear
Javazons are extremely lethal if their attack connects. I recommend you go for the invisible bone spirit or long range bone spear tactic. Why use this tactic you ask me? The first reason is chain lock stabbing which is probably what you want to absolutely avoid. If he manages to chain lock you quickly tele till your opponent is off your mini map. The second reason is Legit-FC (Farcast). Now that most people have learned this technique it is no longer considered bm. If the javazon has mastered legit-fc you might have to put on stacked or bm gear to even remotely stand a chance.

Bowazon
Difficulty: Medium-Hard
Gear: NvA (Res/DR)
Against bowazon you’ll have to switch up combos. At the beginning you’ll want to start off from long range and use invisible bone spirits at the same time slowly work your way around and closer to the bowazon. Once he’s on screen chainlock + bone spear, which will automatically put her into dodge lock. If he starts to wsg repeat the strategy but he will most likely have already died in the bone spear chainlock. One thing to always watch out for is multi + guided, and to always keep up golem/bone armor. Another helpful skill if bone wall which can take some hits for you when you attempt to get closer to the bowazon. Remember the bowazons goal is to get away from you while your goal is to get him in a dodge lock animation.

Assassin
Trapper
Difficulty: Medium
Gear: NvA (Res/DR) or Stacked/BM Gear
In this duel I take it you have already mastered WSG because you will definitely need it when the trapper gets you in a mind blast lock. If you manage to get to a distance use the invisible bone spirit strategy. If the trapper gets closer use wsg strategy and at the same time throw in some bone spears. This shouldn’t be hard if you focus on where his traps are placed and with a good understanding of WSG and where to fire your projectiles.

Ghost/Hybrids
Difficulty: Medium-Hard
Gear: NvA (Res/DR)
For the ghost and hybrid variant assassins you will have to use bvc tactics and watch out for whirlwinds. Remember you are a vita necromancer and have no block so 1-2 whirlwind can mean death for you. Play from a range, if the assassin is using traps or not in whirlwind animation use spear. But once the assassin enters ww animation heres your opportunity to get her with bone spirit and switch it up with chainlock + bone spear. Approach with caution for the trapper oriented they will focus on open wound. Like a trapper get a healthy amount of resist.

Necromancers
Bone Necromancer
Difficulty: Easy-Medium
Gear: NvN
A Mirror Match. In most or all cases bone spirit is bm in this duel. This is why we will be utilizing the skills teeth and bone spear. Start the duel with while teleporting and throwing out some teeths. Once your enemy gets hit by teeth they will be in FHR animation. This is your chance to chainlock + bone spear. A good amount of fhr is required for this duel.

Poison Necromancer
Difficulty:Easy-Medium
Gear: Stacked/BM Gear
You will need a good amount of resist here to be able to survive. Poison Nova can be quite lethal if it connects with lower resist along with 125% FCR. First is play on and off defensive and extremely aggressive (stay at range and when he’s close enough chainlock + bone spear; if he gets away repeat). Basically the idea behind this is to lure him to you, which means you will use the invisible bone spirit tactic. If he’s an aggressive tele stomper use the train.

Sorceress
Fireball Sorc (Non-ES)
Difficulty: Medium-Hard
Gear: NvA (Res/DR)
The fireball sorc without es means 200 FCR which can be a problem for you. You’ll want to play from a range using invisible bone spirits and occasionally throw a few spears at her direction. If the sorc goes aggressive seeing you use this tactic switch up to train tactic since she is most likely trying to get you in a chainlock.

Fireball (ES)
Difficulty: Hard
Gear: NvA (Res/DR) or Stacked/BM Gear
Possibly one of the worst duels you can be in. ES will take a beating from you so bone spear wont cut it for you here. What you want to do to win this duel is to get a massive amount of bone spirits to swarm the sorc. What does the job for this is most likely the train method since ES sorcs are pretty confident when it comes to tanking. If things get too rough go for a stacked or if necessary sorb setup.

Lightning Sorc (Es/Non-ES)
Difficulty: Medium-Hard
Gear: NvA (Res/DR) or Stacked/BM Gear
You’ll probably want to play it out from a range and go for the invisible bone spirit and occasional bone spear route since most lightning sorcs tend not to tele stomp. But if she does use the train method it can work too. But whats different from fireball sorc that you should watch out for is the thunderstorm which can put you in FHR frame and the massive amount of tanking she can take.

Nova Sorc (ES)
Difficulty: Hard
Gear: Stacked/BM Gear
You absolutely need good resist here because wow I mean this duel is hard. You’ll want to play out this duel like a fireball sorc or anyone who tele stomps you, except for the fact that she has conviction + nova + ts and able to tank a lot. If things go too hard for you get absorb + massive stack.

Blizzard (Non-Es)
Difficulty: Hard
Gear: Stacked/BM Gear (*If necessary thawing potions)
One of the hardest duel you’ll ever come across. If you’re up against an excellent name locker you’ll probably need to put on massive stacked or worse absorb gear. What you want to do here is keep moving at all cost and use bone spear. Bone spirit will not be able to catch up. Again this duel is hard so if you need stacked or absorb gear go for it.

Blizzard (ES)
Difficulty: Extremely Hard
Gear: Stacked/BM Gear (*If necessary thawing potions)
WOW, this duel is near impossible if you do not have an extremely high amount of cold resist. Basically what you have here is a sorceress that can 1 hit you and tank a lot of your attacks. Usually I don’t recommend stacked or a few absorb gear but es blizz sorc I recommend it. You’ll have to play like a regular blizz sorc (non-es) but expect a prolonged duel. 105% FCR Sorcs will give you major trouble. From experience when I play as a blizz sorc I rarely if ever lose to bone necs.

(*Note: If you feel like you have a better dueling method against certain chars you do not have to follow my way)

..:: Conclusion ::..
Well, there you have it this is my guide for a pure vita bone nec hope you had fun reading it.
