I have 514% mf without nagels on, and yet I still find crap! With my nagels on, 571% mf and I still get shit! Excuse my language. 
Can someone plz tell me what is wrong!
My lvl is 71 but with same equipment on other char, lvl 80, I get squat.

yeah... i hear rumors 300 is perf... cuz on open ive got like 100000000000000000000 mf and dont find shit... and so far ive found the same shit with 0 as i have with 300. am a prophet who says mf is bullshit in an effort by blizzard to squash people from being good
The highest stuff I got was probobly Natalyas helm or shako!

manual mfing dosent help much and also you need about 400 mf to make a diffrence i tested it with a my bot i used a guy with 50 mf and about 450 mf and way diffrent results, o yea dude mfing at level 70 is sad its not hard to get level 87 atleast

magic find is a chance of getting magic items so you still have a low chance of getting ss and shit even if u do have tons of magic find but u will find shit uniqes and sets and stuff.

mf only effects the quality of the item. The game first chooses if its gonna drop an item at all. From there it picks which group of items it will be choosing from. After, this is when ur mf kicks in, it chooses the quality of the item (if this was a superunique like meph, you would have to get AT LEAST a magic item) so you'll get either a magic, rare, set, or unique. So more mf is ALWAYS better. There are no glitch numbers, perfect mf, etc.

with all this said, u could still get a unique bow to drop but even after that you have a very rare chance that it will be a wf. It's all luck. Just keep on workin at it and eventually you'll get something decent.

hes got part of it right.
first the game chooses an item to drop....(bow,sword,mace,helm)
next it chooses the type (norm, elite, exceptional)
then it chooses the quality
first it rolls unique depending on the bow class. (say wf is 2)
then it multipies ur mf with the bow class (say ur mf is 250 or 2.5)
2x2.5=5% chance to be unique
next if it isnt unique then it rolls for set (i.e set is 4)
4x2.5=10% chance to be set
then it chooses to be rare (i.e rare is 12)
12x2.5=30% chance to be rare
finally it chooses magical if all other chances fail.
note:if the item rolled cannot be a set item...... it will just go down to the lower lvl

Well, I consider the perfect MF % to be anywhere from 300% - 350%. Anything over that is too much. You must also be extremely patient when MFing. I once was MFing with my 89 Sorc, and I did about 20 manual runs. Didn't find anything. As I was about to give up, my friend told me to do 1 last run. So I did, and it payed off. Got a +2 to most skills Valor. (v1.09). Also, I think that LEVEL does matter when it comes to MFing and Gambling. Do Hell Baal runs until you are about 85 or so. Then start MFing again. You will most likely be pleased at what you find.

Ok, my sorc is now 85 and I still try to mf. So far, the best item I found was a 3/5 fire facet.
and my mf is 528 now.
To get a little richer I'm making a rune hunting lightning sorc!
