Hey guys, I know I've never posted here but I do come here alot to read through everything and gain some understanding on how things work. Basicaly I was hacked today on USWest. My account has been emptied out, my shako, and my ammies are gone. The moron even came into the room I was playing, with one of my characters to tell me he had hacked the account.
I don't want to know how to hack him. As far as I'm concerned he/she is just a lazy **** that cant get the shit their selves. What I do want to know is how to stop this from happening again. I have Norton firewall and Norton Anti Virus installed. They didn't detect anything.
I don't understand why I was hacked either, I didn't **** anyone off and I keep to myself in the games. I just like the game.

Nah I don't want anything, I can get all the stuff back. I was just looking for some tips on how to keep it from happening again thats all man. You guys seem to be the proz when it comes to D2:LOD and all of its inner workings so I figured this would be the best place to come.

well the most important thing to remember is NEVER GIVE ANYONE YOUR EMAIL THEN UR AN EASY TARGET

Well, in that case, sorry for the misunderstanding. Well, for one, keep your password to yourself. In all the cases where my item's have been taken, characters been deleted, accounts been stolen, it was from me "sharing" my password with someone on battle.net that I didn't know personally. Also, did you get scammed? Possibly it was somebody you trusted who knew your password.. And to stop it from happening you could change your password frequently.

yeah see thats the strange thing, I have never given out my password. Plus my password is alpha num so that would make it even harder to crack. To top it off not 1 but BOTH of my accounts where hacked into in under an hour. I have one account that my friends and I use for storage and one that I play on. I was playing when I noticed the mule account signed on. When I I'm the mule account to see who it was there was no responce. Not to mention they got into the game I was playing in with a character from my SAME account and started taunting me. Its almost like the hacked it through Battle.net.

It's very unlikely that they hacked you through battle.net, maybe you had a trojan keylogger installed on your computer. Download anything from untrustworthy sites lately?

No I havent, The only sites I go to for diablo is D2data.net, this site and blizzards website.
I also have norton Personal Firewall installed and Norton Anti-Virus. You'd think one of the 2 would have cought it.

As for this, don't they send an e-mail to verify that you want the e-mail address you signed your account up to changed?

yeah they do now if you enter a valid e-mail when you created the account.

Well, I don't know what to tell you man. So you are the only person who knew your password? My guess would be, somebody knew password and took it, you have a keylogger on your computer, or you got scammed.

hmmm maybe... you have d2loader, and you play UsWest, and you set your home channel to channel 1, and a guy whispers to you about a new dupe hack and to get it before it is patched... <<< that my friend is a scam i know cuz i myself downloaded the file and looked at it to see if it was real. in the readme it says something like "open the dupe program then turn on diablo, after that type in your account name and password. If your account name is saved on there type it again. Make a game and use your hydro cube to dupe  " << why would the want you to type your acc name again? total scam to steal your acc.

ya this is all i do i have 3 diff e-mail adrresses 1 for general msn and emailing friends 1 for joining sites like this and 1 for games and i never go in that acc unless i have to verify a game and i havent been hacked in a game for quite a long time cuz if u never go in that acc the cant get in it to hack ur acc
