Help, i can't put runes/gems in sockets, any suggestions ?

Well, as the title says, i can't put gems or runes in items with sockets.
i know i am doing it right, the item should be gemmed when i drop the gem on it.
For some reason though, it doesnt.
i tried re-istalling, but it won't work.

Normally it wouldnt be a problem, i only need helms socketed with 3 perf topazes, and have a non-expansion friend to do that.
However, recently i got LoD, and with all these new runes/runewords, i really want to be able to put gems/runes in socketed items.

So, any suggestions on how to make it work ?
if you can help me, i would really appreciate it.

do u have mh on? if so take it off

if you have maphack, try either turning it off like Demonic said, but some MH's you are able to toggle socket protect on and off, with it on, you guessed it, it protects you from putting unwanted items in sockets (thank god for c3po, i almost put a jah in a wirts leg), if you can toggle it, just turn it off for the time being.

mh has socket protection, thats why

mh has a soket protection ... if u whant to disable it go into edit . and put a 1 after soket protection

i thought 1 enabled it, and 0 disabled it

It was indeed the maphack, and i wasn't even aware it had socket protection.
i tried editing the config, but it didn't work, so i just make new games and don't load maphack when i need to gem something.

Also, if someone knows how to turn socket protection off in mousepad's maphack, i'd like to know ^^
