I'm just trying to find out how many of you use AOL.
If you do, please feel free to say why you use that overpriced, slow ISP.

i dont have aol, but my grandma does...and, at least on hers, its not too slow or crappy. she's got a 56k connection, and it works perfectly for d2, never lagged once on me. dont get me wrong, sometimes it crashes and has to reboot (the program itself, not the whole comp) but it doesnt disconnect from tha internet.
at my house on the other hand. well, i have even worse internet...i have Walmart-Connect. its so f--king gay. its almost EXACTLY like aol, except its red and grey, and has walmart written all over it. o, and it disconnects me every 10-30 minutes for no apparent reason. and im so frekin bored, i'll post a screenshot of the crappy thing...

i would have dsl, but i live about 10 minutes out of town, and the satellite doesnt reach this far out so i gotta wait until they put a dish out here, and i know they will cuz i know at least 5 households that want dsl, that live out here, and im sure there's more. i cant f--king wait:devilish:

My god my grandma uses that piece of shit given a name to sound like a good internet service. Takes like 20 minutes for a page to load. I use dsl at my house (for obvious reasons) and my dad uses T1. T1 is amazing. Its never experienced lag, ever. BTW Tyler, what does satellite have to do with dsl?

I bet half of you wouldn't think it's slow if it weren't for Chesh saying that. Anyway. I don't use it, but I have MSN which, in my opinion, is just as bad. I can't say on D2 for more than an hour and MSN resets their servers at like random times and shit... But soon I'm getting Netscape 5x Faster BS.

You mean AOHell?
Also, Earthlink is charging more than $40 for DSL (supposed to be 768/128 I think) and yet all I get is around 75-125/100 connection.
Thank god for Comcast (3000/256 or something like that)

ok, maybe 'satellite' was the wrong word to use. i dont know that much about dsl, but there's something that doesnt reach out this far to our house, but they will have it out here within a year. or so they say:confused: .

I don't use it, considering I don't live in America. I conncet via a Cable modem. Pretty fast connection, although I lag a bit due to my computer being a pos. I had AOL a long time ago, and I remember getting a super bad virus that destroyed my hard drive when I uninstalled it. My dad doesn't like it much, either.

yeh i don't use AOL, but its fun to decide what to do with the free disks (whether that is to use them as clay pigeons or not..). i stick with the good 'ol Comcast on my cable modem, speedy enough for me.

I cant imagine why anyone would do such a horrible thing like use AOL or even contemplate using AOL. I use those free cd's you get in the mail as targets. Its fun to watch them shatter.

Aol....My friend had it awhile ago on a real crappy computer, the friggin client just alone slows down the p.c so much. If you dont use the internet for much it can't be too bad. Myself im using overpriced Hi Speed Sympatico Dsl, im not the one paying for it though.
