Your thought on Rage's political acts?
#1
So what do all of you think about some of Rage Against The Machines political acts? Here's 1.

When they played infront of the Wrold Stock Exchange to use as a music video. They rehearsed it 4 times, not having a permit to play there. The only permit they had was for the right to film it. So on the 4th time playing it cops raided in on them but the crowd (a.k.a. many workers that worked in WSE (World Stock Exchange) attacked the cops). So then Rage ran inside the WSE while cops struggled through the crowd, Rage made it through first set of door then someone hit the "raid" button shutting down all access to center of the WSE. Then Rage was arrested.

Many other political acts they took that I could name...

I myself agree with all of them but I'd liek to hear your opinions. THIS IS NOT MENT TO BE A ARGUEING THREAD!!! Just state your thoughts/opinions.

Their political acts seem like they take quite a great deal of balls... i will give them that, but what did it/ was it supposed to accomplish. i am not attacking you or the band or anything, i jyust want to know.

btw, i do like that song "sleep now in the fire" or something like that...

Sleep Now in The fire was video that they did the World Stock Exchange video. Yes that actually happened (read first post of mine).

Now here are a few acts htye took that did good things.

Taco Bell Sweatshop - Rage went to Mexico and stood in the tsreets of a town stopping trucks "trying" to deliver the tomatoes to Taco Bell stores in Mexico/USA and other place. Now they did this because Taco Bell was using sweatshops to farm their tomatoes. Yes they actually were. Here's little seqment I got off Rage's site.
Quote:Farmworkers in Florida are facing corporate power head on. They've called for a boycott of Taco Bell because the multi-billion dollar corporation refuses to meet with workers over the sweatshop conditions in the fields where Taco Bell buys its tomatoes.

PMRC - For those who watched VH1 like Most amazing band performances or something this was one there. Rage gets on stage naked with their mouths taped shut. All they had on was the 1 letter on each of their chests. P M R C. Parental Music Resource Center. If you wnat to know what PMRC does look it up. Rage did this to protest against P M R C, all they did on stage was have the buzz of the guitar/bass amp for 14 minutes.

World Stock Exchange - I told story above. This was very good act. They shut down the financial capital. Amazing that is was even capable of doing, they were the first and still the only band to do it. Great day in the US. Went to jail then but that didn't bother them cause they just shut down the financial capital for a while.

There are many mroe if you wnat to learn more.

You look up to someone that shuts down the financial capital? That isn't a great day in the U.S. and it isn't something I respect in a person. Shutting down the financial capital doesn't cripple the government as much as it cripples the people.

Dumbass.

I don't understand most music now-a-days. Some bands like say, Fall out boy and Jessica Simpson, just make music just to make music. System of a Down and thier song BYoB(bring your own bombs), I got the sublyminal message in that song, but why inform the public of what they already know? I see them singing songs and I guess that's one way, but why not get out more and try to stop this so-called "terrorist" known as our president. And no I'm not a Bush fan, just a confused adult about todays music and politics.
I'll stick to my Led Zeppeling, Van Halen, AC/DC and such.

as sarcasm stated, you are a dumbass. why the hell would you think that shutting down the "financial capital" would be a good thing? are you retarded? do you not understand that trade and money are needed to provide you with food, electricity, etc? what the hell would you want to shut down the world economy for? great day in the US my foot. a great day in the US would be you getting your head out of your ass and stop worshipping idiots

Additional Comment:
and as default asked, what did their stupidity accomplish? did they make starving kids in africa starve just a little more because the economy was shut down and no one could buy them food? or maybe they delayed help from reaching disaster victims from katrina, or that place that got hit by the tidal wave? please, tell me what is so great about what they accomplished. i am dying to hear this...

I have many reasons why I think that, and if you don't agree which I know you don't then wow I'm hurt? I like/disliek US in many ways. I think we need better leaders/government. But i'm not oging to start this since it isn't what thread is about.

I like RatM and I like their lyrics but sometimes they take stuff a little to far, like shutting down NYSE is a dumbass idea, altho I do like that "Freedom" video about the Native American guy that arrested for no reason or matter of secruity. But like most say, its your opinion and you can do whatever you want with it

you have many reasons, but you dont want to share them because either you cant think of them, or they are so stupid and you know it that you dont want to be ridiculed relentlessly. PMGZ YAYYAY LEZ SUT DAOWN TEH GOVARNAMENT EKANOMEE WUDNT DAT BE KEWL!!!!!1111ONE!!ELVEN (my impression of anyone who thinks shutting down the economyis even remotely a good idea)

you said you like/dislike the US in many ways, but do you hate its citzens? the citzens are who would be hurt, not the government, but shutting down the economy...do you hate people who depend on aid like katrina victims? do you want them to starve because your idols shut down the economy and no one could help them?

seriously, you need to remove your head from your anus

I don't hate "all" of its citizens. I understand what your saying also. But MY OPINION so dont ****ing flame, when you have shitty leader...Bush...takes some action to wake people up. I understand what your saying above, I don't care if you dont garee...meh some do some dont I dont care.

My reasons, I believe in True Republic or a Pure Democracy government. Not familier with them? Learn about Che Guevara, the famous cuban revolutionary, then you will learn about the two. When it comes to rich people who are greedy ass's something has to be done. Where I live (Minnesota) I live near Mystic Lake Casino, ever hear of it? Well biggest Casino/Hotel in Midwest. The reservation that it's on is full of rich millionare indians. Do thye donate any of it, so far...nope. Then out of all rich people out there, a lot of them are greedy and keep it to them selves. Those are the people that ruin it. While thye sit their swimming naked in money and taking wads of 100's out of their pockets there ae people living in poverty in cities lucky even have a loaf of bread.

Katrina ahhh....Rage actually helped them. If I agree with rage's acts then I have nothing against the peopel in katrina. I feel bad also for Katrina victims.

So I want to help the poor....but the rich who are greedy and love to have a position of power to abuse it ruin it.

you are right about most things but dude.. rich ppl have the right to choose if they wanna help the poor or anything... as long as they are greedy but dont **** ppl in the ass to get rich, then you cant say anything.

but we all know us is based on frawds lies and fake wars for money... we also know that most of the ppl there are stupid. thats why bush is still the boss.

and you are a prime example...spellcheck please, and fake wars? whats next? the moon landing was staged?

and chaos, shutting down the economy would not hurt those greedy rich people you are talking about, they already have all the money they need. it hurts the middle class and the poor. and as for you telling me to go learn about governments, kid i am about to graduate from college, i've probably forgotten more about types of government than you know. i dont need to go read about some cuban. and dont you think its about time something good happened to NATIVE AMERICANS? my grandmother was half native american and i would appreciate you not calling them indians. indians live in india. one could make the argument that there people(i wont say mine because i am only like 1/16th native american) had it as bad as the blacks did back in the day or even worse. they were forced to move off their lands into little "reservations'' and were practically wiped out by disease...its about time they had some money

Already graduated. 5 years ago. I'm not ***TELLING*** you to read/learn jackshit. If you wanna know who Che is or what true republic/pure democracy are then you sholud. True republic/Pure democracy do focus on 1 thing...power to the people.

And also i'm not directing it at all Native Americans. I actually have 1 friend on those reservations. It's just some of them there act like dumbasses with the money, bringing 800-1000 dollars to school (all 100's). I have no problems with any race...heritage or any dat shit. So sorry about that then.......I respect black people too....

Dude, that's what you also claimed in the other thread, that you had "many sources", but surprisingly enough, you failed to produce them.

Ok, so that's why you created this thread in flame wars.

Guevara was a Marxist. What's that got to do with true democracy? I think that you should get your facts straight first.

Chaos31 Wrote:Then out of all rich people out there, a lot of them are greedy and keep it to them selves. Those are the people that ruin it. You're a complete cretin (as were Marx and Guevara). My family is very rich, I could just sit in a pool counting hundreds (not that I do so). What you don't know, on the other hand, is that 80% of the world's wealth is owned by about 200 people. Those are the people that ruin it, not your ordinary everyday millionairs. I suggest that you shut you stupid mouth, accept the fact that you don't know shit, and cease making such threads. You have still to produce a credible arguement.

Now getting back on topic. Using music as "political acts"? That's incredibly stupid. None of those retards know what's going on withing the governance of the state. Sure, they could produce a few numbers, saying that "oh such and such sector has too much budget" or so. Not that they would know what those numbers actually mean, or the reasons behind why they are so. All they do is cause more work for the authorities. If you want that, then you're a saboteur. I am glad that you are not a citizen of my country.

PS. If you want to start a remotely intelligent topic on this forum, start with grammar.
