3 worst bands ever
#81
As long as I read people say "oh this way is weak because it uses keyboards and computers instead of 'real' instruments" i'll always react that way. It's like clockwork.

If anyone else tries to say mixers and producers are talentless then I have another, longer and more boring way to say it.

One thing a lot of you people don't really understand, and not that I expect you too, is when I put a lot of effort into a bash/essay/whatever, then i'm probably not directing it directly at you. While you may have triggered a certain thought train by saying something, I often drift and move onto other things.

And I STILL don't see how someone who uses a beat can't commend respect. Well, for one, a producer uses it. If you think that job's easy, well.. i've never produced, but I know we put ours through total hell.

Other than a producer, only the rapper will take another significant role that I can see, and if he has quality rhymes with deep meaning than I see how anyone in the process is not deserving of respect. If you think maknig an album is easy, you're wrong. It's not just the musicians who do all the work. Yeah, you can apply that to the first paragraph, BTW. You inspired something that sort of drifted off topic.

I also write these debates sometimes just so I can (yes, I am a nerd. I know.) try to fix my grammar errors. I'll just reread things looking for simple changes. This really isn't one of them though. If a post here sparks a train of thought I'll just type something to see where I **** up grammar wise

ughh i hate closed-minded metalheads

some hardcore/metalcore bands do suck when it comes to instrument talen, but thats not what its all about, lyrics are important to, and alot of hardcore bands have amazing lyrics.

oh and as far as them having no talent, ****ing listen to between the buried and me, or into the moat.

Additional Comment:
oh, and as for dancing, i NEVER see a scene(emo for you people( kid dancing at a show, and Tool, as far as making fun of straight edge, how can you shit talk people that are strong willed and refuse to put poisons into their body, seriously, **** you

No, I think that keyboards can serve an important part in music, for example, I think that they are absolutely essential in Children of Bodom. However, I don't like music that is entirely played on keyboards, it's boring.

Exactly. Scene / emo kids dont dance. They go to shows to look pretty and so they can go to school and say "Yeah man! I went to the CATHERINE show! It was so INSANE"
And koax is right about edge too. Everyone looks down on edge so much, because they think we're pussies, and they rag on us because they think we cant have sex and all that. But if the ****ers actualy took the time to look into it a little bit they'd know differently. Edge makes me better than you.

xDBD Wrote:Why in gods ****ing name do you idiots skip my posts? Do you think I don't know what I'm talking about? I've used a studio before to record my guitar tracks and i've also worked with an amateur beat mixer. Which one was harder and more frustrating and time consuming?

It took me max 5 minutes to lay down each part/solo because I went in there knowing what I was going to play and I ripped it out, because I know how to play my instrument.

Yeah, then I went in there and did the "talentless" thing with my man Wes/DJ Trick and got so utterly pissed and frustrated that I couldn't replicate my hummed beat out to a point that sounded better than a heaping pile of maggot infested horse poop.

You asshats who hate on DJs and Mixers simply have never ****in' did any of it. Walk a mile in someones shoes before you lose respect for them.

It's funny because thats the third time i've typed this and you idiots STILL haven't even read it. Even if you have read my posts, you're all just straight up idiot preteens, fitting the stereotype that really makes me dislike posting on here.

For every two people who read your post, there's atleast 15 who see it and go "ya its long not reading it" and totally post something idiotic, even though it's been picked apart. This thread is like the GodandRock thread on his playing:

Idiots making uninformed opinions on something they know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT.

and like I said, some rappers love the Bitches and Benjamins and sound like shit. Some rappers, like Biggie Smalls, loved the bitches and benjamins a lot but also presented them in a way all of you haters will never, ever replicate. He was a god among the rap genre. Yeah, then again, Rock has people like Disturbed and Three Days Grace. All that trash is.. its goddamned crappy lyrics over medicore music. Sure, the musicians deep down may have 20 years of bottled up Malmsteen and Vai licks somewhere, but they damn sure don't show it.
I thought this was a rather interesting post. You see, when I start something new, and find out that I'm not very good or efficient at it, I work on getting better. Why is this? Because if a lot of people can do the same thing you're trying to do better than you can, odds are high that you just aren't very good.

It would seem you look at this a different way. When you try and do something new, and you aren't very good or efficient at it - studio mixing, for example - you assume that everyone who can do it well and efficiently must just be super-talented and amazing. Hence, why you try and use the example of sucking ass with with a beat mixer justification that all beat mixers are talented, and anyone who disagrees must be a 'close-minded metalhead.'

Of the five or six people - excluding myself - I know who are proficient at, and consistently use sound and mixing boards, synth workstations, and MIDI controllers, it took each of them somewhere around one week to get accustomed to the basics of a new program or piece of hardware. By basics, I mean the general ability to add and edit notes and beats either through manually inserting them, or recording them through a synth workstation or MIDI controller. (Yes, this well-includes replicating a hummed jingle to sound better than a 'heaping pile of maggot infested horse poop.') One week. That's all. Granted, that is per considerably-different piece of hardware or software. i.e., if you're accustomed with Cubase, it wouldn't probably take you a long time to get used to also something like Cakewalk or ACID. The same applies for sound and mixing boards, though not all of them. Even most synth workstation/keyboard OSs are simliar enough to get fairly comfortable with one in a short time after using most others. MIDI controllers might be one of the very few exceptions, because different programs handle VSTi inputs in quite a variety of different ways.

The point is, it doesn't take very long to get accustomed to, and proficient at, mixing beats. Take into account the similarity of beats and tracks throughout a large majority of rap/hip-hop[surrounding genres], and you've a recipe for mediocrity.

No, of course not all beat mixers are untalented. There are many very talented studio-recorders and DJs out there. However, these aren't typically the people who get any recognition for their talent. The rappers do. And, with this truth, I still hold no respect for most rappers. Again, you won't find me saying that there aren't talented rappers out there. However, it's the same principle as with mixers, most of them hardly get by with the talent they have. And by hardly get by in today's popular music scene, I mean they only expand their wealth, not their musical abilities.

'Look at me. I have principles. People call me straight-edge. Let's call it EDGE instead. Not only does it sound more intense, it makes me better than you, and I feel I must announce that, because it's in serious question.'

I presume, based only upon that last sentence, this must be what is going through your clean, far superior mind.

Because you and KoAx are right. Anyone who isn't intense-EDGE must be putting poison into their bodies. I listen to metal - which must affect my principles and behaviour - so I certainly enjoy injecting myself with some cyanide. Afterwards - I might as well be a vampire, if we're all going to start throwing around music-based generalizations - I enjoy drinking some blood, and Hell, why not go out back and devour an infant while I'm at it?

But I'm still not better than you, because you feel it important to announce your principles and behaviour at 'shows' as justification that you're better than anyone who disagrees with your musical tastes.

I listen to metal too. Being Straight Edge (There, I spelled it out for you, happy?) isnt about what kind of music you like. Its about making a promise to yourself. But I guess I shouldnt waste my time explaining it, since you like METAL your probly closed minded, right? I was being sarcastic by the way, if you didnt catch it, you cyanide infested blood drinking infant devouring fool.

Hawthron Heigths just came through my town, and they stopped by my fav radio station to play a few acoustic versions of their songs over the air live. The sounded terrible, their singer couldn't carry a note to save his life. Makes me wonder how many thousands of dollars they spent for studio time to tweak the singer's voice.

Sort of like the Good Charlotte emo-songs? (Vomit is being suppressed for the mere mention of their name.) The ones that sound like someone who was out to destroy emo-music wrote it, putting in as many hilariously bad generalizations as possible.

Edit: http://www.plyrics.com/lyrics/goodcharlo...unded.html

Yes, the song is called 'Wounded.'

And while this really holds no relevancy to Hawthorne Heights, or whomever it is, I'm just trying to get an idea of how bad it is.

A long long long time ago when the rap was new it was cool and i was able to listen to it but now ! Oh my god! (god is me)

I will now describe a 50 cent rap video (and many others)
First: "50 cent" stands still and says "yea", "huh", "uh".
Second: "50 cent" starts complaining on how bad his childhood was and some shit like that.
Third: A black or white woman with a big ass comes out and starts shaking it against "50 cents" leg.
Fourth: still some ass rubbing.
Fifth: Some "fade-in" on the screen and then he starts walking right..
