#1
Okay so... I started playing like a week ago, maybe less... And my friend (who doesnt play much, but hes really good) gives me an ethereal infinity polaxe... And I see everyone posting things about infinity. It looks amazingly good, so maybe thats why? Lol. I was just wondering what was up with this runeword.

Nothing is up with this runeword. It is an amazing runeword for a2 mercs. The Conic helps mf sorcs and all Elemental damage chars to do mf and or chaos.

letting sorcys solo hell because conviction takes away all immunes. and because its a lad only runeword so if you're on nonladder hold onto it because its over 10sojs.
As long as darkness flows through my veins, I will never cease, As long as my dreams still haunt me, I will never show mercy, and as long as evil lives I will never die.....

Conviction does not lower the resistance of an immune monster. You cannot use Infinity in order to kill immunes.

Just wanted to clear that up.

Yes, I agree. But lets say then breakpoint of immunity starts at 100 resists in hell. Some monsters do only have these 100 resists, and some have 200. It can be, that conviction takes away the monster with 100 resists, but not the immunity of the one with 200.

That was ****in bad english lol.

Duh, yes you can, it's called breaking immunities. If you just lower the resists of an immune monster low enough, the immunity is broken.

I think that 140 is maximum resists that a monster can have, and their immunities cannot be broken.

Required Level: 30
Prerequisites: Might [1], Thorns [6], Holy Fire [6], Holy Freeze [18], Sanctuary [24]

Effect: Reduces enemy Defense and the Resistances of monsters.
  • It is fearsome enough to behold the power of a Paladin, let alone a Paladin aglow with the aura of Conviction. This halo of righteousness demonstrates, with force, the grim determination of those who shine within its brilliance. Any who stand against the Paladin and his allies will understand the meaning of folly.
  • This aura does not lower an enemy's magic or poison resistance. Conviction will remove immunities which will allow you or your party members to damage monsters that were previously untouchable with immunities. There is a cap of -150% resistance and you will not be able to remove some monster's immunities in hell level.
  • This aura, when breaking an immunity, will only function at 1/5 effectiveness.
so useful...everyone should check this site before they ask questions

ur right about breaking immunities, but ONLY conviction aura can do that
if u have alot of facets, griffs, and some -res items you still cannot remove a monsters immunity, for some reason :p. but conviction can, and once they arent immune anymore, the -res from other items can kick in

Yeah, I know. But I have heard that you can make the Conviction on Inifinty work at a more efficient rate than 1/5 when you also use the Lower Resists curse.

I have an infinity merc on my light sorc.... infinity WILL remove immunities... fire, cold, and light. Here's the trick though... after a monster reaches 100+% resistance, infinity works at 1/4 the percentage. For example, a monster with 110%light resistance, with -60% conviction aura... the monster will end up with 80% light resistance. 40% of your aura blocks the 10% over 100 the monster has...the rest goes as planned. Also, with infinity, your merc also removes an extra bonus of light resistance.... but only AFTER they have hit said monster. It's not an area effect. it only helps you for the monster your merc is attacking at that moment in time.

inifity has an additional 45-55% lower resistance mod on top of having conviction. I've chaosed with a person who had a merc wiht infinity and yes when the merc was close enough, my lite sorcy could kill lite immunes because it broke res. this also works if you cast lower resisance with a necro on a poisen immune then nova and kill it.
