Speed it up!
#1
I got this. I take no credit. I can't find the link, so I won't post it, however I will if I do.

How to: Speed-up Firefox!
  1. Type "about:config" into the address bar and click go.
  2. Scroll down to find the entries: network.http.pipelining, network.http.proxy.pipelining, network.http.pipelining.maxrequests.(Normally the browser will make one request to a webpage at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.)
  3. Alter the entries as follows: Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true". Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true". Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.
  4. Right-click anywhere on the screen and select New-> Integer.
  5. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay"(without quotes) and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.
  6. Shut down your browser and reopen it. You shouldn't notice much of a difference right away. But get browsing some of your usual sites and you should notice a much faster connection to the site!

I set it to 35, d2s went from about a five second complete load to about a second.. And pages that took 10+ seconds, are now 10 or lower (generally)

FYI

network.http.pipelining.maxrequests - Max is 8. Any number higher then 8 will work the same as 8.

I suggest you download FireTune, it will automatically set these among dozens of other settings to pump out amazing speeds in Firefox. Easy to use, you can choose Fast\Slow computer and Fast\Slow internet. I suggest most use Fast\Fast unless you have a really old computer or use dial-up.

Happy editing

I already had firetune, and when I did blinds thing it boosted it a little more. That or my mindset is that it's going to increase speed and it didn't do anything at all. My loading times are normally instantaneous anyways. Just so you know though, Blind's way does not work on all cpus, I tried it on my other computer and it didn't do anything.

Blinds should work on all CPUs. The problem on slower computers or slower internet connections, it can be over-kill.

I suggested the FireTune because it works better for most, and it is easier for those non-technically adapt people.

I think that the best method is using FireTune and then doing what Blind has suggested. FireTune boosts almost everything but pipelining, and a combo of both will just make things fly

Firefox doesn't lag for me anyway, even slightly. A millisecond or two increase won't matter much to me.. thanks though Wink
