how to check my video card

what i'm basicly asking is, how do i check what kind of video card i have in my comp(while on it) and when i check it can you tell me if its good or not(probably not lol)

yeah just run the blizzard video test then it tells u ur card.. go to d2 directory and find the test n run it

go to start, run, type in dxdiag, hit enter, then click on a tab called display. that will display your video card and information. post a sc of it, and then we can tell you

go to start, then run, then type "dxdiag" no "s and it will give your full system specs plus some.

if you want to tweek it, and look at the operatioal temp (of any) then use RivaTuner.. but first tell us what you have

And badaboom it says your video card right above the screen resolution.

It depends, looks like it wasant a custom built computer, just a regular ordered one. It depends on what you what the graphics card to be for.

and dont even think about running anything that requires power.
is your computer one of those "starter" solutions? from like dell or something like that?

its a gateway thats 5years old thats only had its RAM upgraded(came with 128 lol!) and its due for a harddrive upgrade.

so how bad is it? like on a scale from 1-10 for playing games which require good vid cards?

well its also depends on your cpu..
take my brother's comp for example.. he has a fast cpu, but 256 ram, and a 32mb integrated vid card, (much like yours). it can barely run halo for pc on the lowest settings. halo isnt one of those demanding games out there, but you can forget about running half life 2, fear, WoW, and other games like that

so on a scale.. id give it a 3 (1 being lowest)
i mean it steal functions, but just cant take the above mentioned stuff

actually this card is the second highest reviewed card on newegg, so its pretty good. one thing though.. its PCI Express-16... this probably means your going to hafta upgrade your motherboard (uses a different slot) and with that maybe your cpu as well.. (again different slot)

there are some higher end cards out there, but this one looks pretty good.
some of the really high end ones are above 200, and then you have the crazy ones which are above 500, that you will never need, lol

how would i know if my motherboard had another socket so i wouldn't have to upgrade? can i buy an intergrated card like the one i have now thats better?

crack your comp open, tak a peek, google some info about mother boards/ pci-express stuff. thatswhat i did i got a 128 mb ati x300. it is kinda slow but i can run some of the better games, kinda slow, but gets the job done. x 800 256 mb is what i want tho

Wow. Mob, shut up, I'm not trying to be a ****, but you're telling him completely incorrect information. First off, 6800s aren't always PCI-E x16. ****, they have AGP 7800's so obviously the 6800, which actually started as an AGP card, is AGP... Either way, Hellsing, your motherboard won't be able to support an AGP card if it's 5 years old. And if it does, it's not AGP x8. So you would have to upgrade your motherboard and depending on your CPU's socket, you probably will have to buy a new CPU/mobo combo. If you want, you can IM me on AIM and I can further assist you. If you don't find me qualified right now, talk to Shift, I helped him build a whole computer via MSN.... So yeah.

Just a thing though, if I'm not on AIM it's because GAIM is being gay so it might be a bit before I get on AIM... But I can help you.

I have a integrated video card like that (cept from s3prosavage ddr, 1024 x 768, 32-bit, DDI 9) and it can run cs 1.6 and condition zero at 800x600 32-bit

If u wanna upgrade, wait until late 2006/early 2007 for stuff like nvidia 8 series, AM3 socket for AMD, and windows vista
