Awesome character/Account steal hack on Closed b.net

Yeah, I joined a hell baal game and at the end of it this guy says "games over."
I said "Okay"
He said "Oh btw, i'm hacking your account now"
so I said "Why..."
He said "Cause I can"
Then it kicked me from the game, then the server. I tried to reconnect and it just kept loading... loading... then it said incorrect password.

So yeah, there's a vuln in diablo to steal accounts, anyone know about it?

My password was random but not very hard to brute force.. could have been that..

but when he said that he was taking your account and then it happened.... and he couldnt have bruteforced it that fast.... so either its a hack or your making it up

I don't think this is possible... Unless he works for blizzard and has access to the database where the accounts and characters are stored but this is highly doubtful.

besides, what dumbass announces that they are hacking you when they really are? Surely you remembered his char name... you could easily turn him into blizz. no "for real" hacker would do that.

When somebody is hacked wtf does bruteforce come in from? Wow rumors hurt. Bruteforce is practically impossiable to use, unless your smart like spitfire. My best guess is, your password was easy and the guy had you already.

get some virus protection and a firewall, this happened to me once because i didnt have those 2 (cause i didnt know anything about computers then) but I learned my lesson.

Well I'm going to have to go with L4E and the orginal poster and...oh the rest of you think it's BS. Well, when I had my account hacked (a long time ago) I was bumped off and when I went to log back on, my password was changed. In my case though, there was no one who "announced" that they were hacking. No funny websites, no hacks, nothing.

And no, I was the only person who knew my password. I wouldn't give my password to anybody.

I'm not bullshitting, either some file from this website is infected (I HAVE to turn my firewall off which includes my a.v. in order to play diablo) and he got it that way or there is a hack out there that can do this.. honestly do you think three people (One Vet, One member, and a junoir member) would be sitting here wasting time bsing this for no reason ?

lol well...having your key in use doesnt mean a damn thing, ur cdkey is not tied to your account in any way. u can log into your account from multiple computers (or even 2 applications on the same computer) very easily.

i know this because ive done it before. occasionally if u want to waste the time u can find a retard to fall for the /dnd trick. u dont even have to change their password once ur in, just strip the chars and your done.

There must be an explanation to all of this.. Becuase nobody can get your password just like that and F**k You Up... I guess he probaby fell for the /dnd trick his password was the same as his name or character also it could of been something like qwerty123, qwerty, 12345678, anything like that. Or the guys had access to the Battle.Net databse.. which is highly doubtful (i say it once again lol).

if you were smart you would have taken screen shots of his saying that, then getting booted, then re-attempting to log-in and then sending them into Blizz or B.net

then maybe he would have gotten banned
