Item Editor/Hero Editor problem please help!!

Alright people......i downloaded Hero Editor which i have had many times before and everything has worked fine when using the Item Vault 1.06 or whatever it is called with the hero editor...to import items. Well i had recently quit diablo and come back to it and i downloaded the editor and the item vault and whatnot....and whenever i right click in my character's inventory and click import item and so forth it says.."Cannot find Diablo II Character on this computer. Please locate your character manually" Can someone please help me on getting the imports to work how they should. thanks you have a nice day.

i really dont know what the problem would be
i dont use hero editor due to the fact that items cant be taken on bnet(unless open)
i do remember though when i playd single player(a long time ago)
that i did actually have the same problem with it, i deleted the char i tried to put items on and kept d2 up then i made a new char logged onto it and logged off of it. i minimized d2 then brought up heroeditor and Whammy

that should work if i remember right thats almost exactly what i did
