ok so heres the deal
a friend of mine was really feeling bad on himself today because he lost $190 dollars. well i was feeling bad because this 190 was actually money from his parents for part of his christmas. he lost it and i was feeling so bad that i offered to give $90 dollars to him and go halfway with his loses which i really had nothing to do with in the first place, its just im a great guy.

anyways later that night he was walking around and found $700 dollars cash just laying on the ground.
my first thought was well, thats awesome
my second thought was well, now we can split it

i figured that since he was going to be the ass who pocketed this 700 dollars why couldnt i be the lesser of the two evils and accept part of this.
he went into greed mode and decided that he would pretty much keep all of it aside from buying me dinner, which i usually buy this cat food whenever we go out.

Now since he didnt even offer me anything i feel pretty pissed that hes going to be a **** about it and keep it for himself.

My question to you is this. If you were the one to find $700 dollars in cash what would you do with it? Now the thing is that it wasnt in a wallet or a purse. It was just in a money clip so theres no way to identify whos it was

if i found $700 dollars laying on the ground, i would first look around for anyone searching for it, and if there was i would ask the person if they had lost something and if they said yes i lost $700 dollars i would hand over the money. but if there was no one around and didnt have any kind of identification i would keep it.
but if i were your friend and you had just given me $90 dollars i would first of all pay you back your $90 and give you about $400 of it for being so kind in giving me that $90 and keep the rest.

and i MIGHT consider investing the money i have to DOW or something to get more money

I would "at least" give you back the $90 you gave me. Can't say for sure if I would be any more gratefull. Maybe give you $200 and save the rest for rent.

If it were me, I'd give whoever the 90$ back and then do w/e I felt like with the rest.

i would first turn it in to the police, then if no one claims it, pay off my friend plus maybe 100 and then keep the rest myself

i would help anyone i know out with anything i had, on that note. but i'm not concerned with people thinking about how good of a person i am.

and on the question noted, i woudl take it. 700$? seriously, if you are careless enough to LOSE 700$ straight up, i really don't think you deserve it. i've never had money so maybe that's why i have this mentality... but i mean,

hell, even if you got your ass kicked and you dropped the money as a result of thrasing around violently or something, at the very least you would[should have anyway] filed a police report and stated you lost 700 in the process. if there is no way to find out who owns the cash it's as good as mine.

when i worked at a grocery store i had this same mentality. i would find money collecting carts atleast once a week. the most i've ever found in one hit is 27$, and i'm not about to give that to my managers so they can pocket it instead

Uh, he doesnt exactly live in the most wealthiest of families and seeing as this was Part ifnot all of his christmas. I dont understand how im vain because i decided i would go in half way with his losses.

I had a story kinda like this happen, my friend asked me to loan him $50 bucks like 2 days before the nintendo wii came out and he promised to pay me back, the guys kinda a **** so I did'nt loan him the money cuzz I was damn sure he would'nt pay me back when he said he would. An hour later he calls me from his job and tells me he found $60 cleaning at work, AND STILL WANTS TO BARROW $50 bucks.

I wouldnt have gave him the $90 bucks, just the fact that he lossed it aint my problem. But then if it had to be like that, I would have split the money and gave my friend 200-300 dollars. Maybe even half depending on what friend it is.
