Based on what? Their deep lyrics? Or their ability to influence many musicians? They wrote some of the best songs rock has seen in 20 years.

Cobain was a hell of a lyricist and Grohl a hell of a drummer, Krist was a great bassist and unfortunately hes not doing anything today. Nirvana is a great band but to many people hold them waaay to high.

Its probably because of how the re-invented rock at the time...Rock music was pretty dead before they came along...at least in the early/mid 90's

That is the whole point of a forum! To share your opinions, Debate etc. The trick is to do it in a mature manner. Everyone has their own opinion, and it even comes to play when you talk about the weather outside. Topics like that encourage people to share that opinion...add to the topic...etc~!!!!

Green Day should be up there, they have stood the test of time, and have evolved their music. I have liked them for 14 years now.

I suppose that you are right about the "rooting" for the team thing. I don't really agree with some of their stuff, but over the long haul I have liked their music.

Well your missing the impact that zep had on the musical industry. I seriously doubt that if zep wouldnt have came around that you would be listening to some of the bands you do now. in this sense yes they are one of the greatest bands ever......or i guess that would make them one of the most influential bands ever. Zeplin was great for its time, but the current music industry? if you havent heard a song on the radio or mtv in the past 5 years you would notice all the bullshit they play, now Metal, 100% pure musicianship who needs lyrics when you've got a solo.

my only disappointment was that muse wasn't on that list i guess it's because they haven't actually been around that long and are still finding their own style. They're still pretty good IMO. <-----
