How to build a shapeshifting druid
#1
I've decided to slowly branch away from necromancy and move into melee, so i decided shapeshifting druids.

WHAT IS THE BEST FORM?

Specializing in this tree, shapeshifts dont need many skills.

I figured the following

Pro's
Wolf= Attack speed increase, Attack rating increase, damage increase with fury, Increased stamina
Bear= increase damage, increases defence, lil'more life then wolf.

i am able to master lycanthropy, werewolf/bear, maul, fury... but i wanna have at leasy a spirit and a summon as TANKS.

please help.

WHICH IS THE BEST FORM

bear have synergies for its fireclaw
while wolf's fury don't have but can attack multiple enemies
it's hard to say which one is better

I agree, , and the plus side is that in either form, Armageddon can be cast...

Downside- fire immune in hell is the mosty likely and higher chance to encounter.

may be you need the runeword that with lower fire resist and holy fire aura ...

go fury with a maul, I have a level 70 that mops up in hell. I upgraded the gavel of pain and after a fury hit, I'm almost always the only one standing. Just remember that a wolf needs a spirit, either works, but I prefer damage. There are so many good 2 handed weapons with fast attack speed. Bear shows the best numbers in damage and life, but there is so much more to it than that when you mix it up with the ancients. if you go bear, you'll know what I mean (good luck hitting them). The easiest time I have ever had beating the game was with a wolf. I beat hell by level 68 and only died a few times total. goog luck

yes... a bear is an under-extimated dueller, power is yet to be reckon'd with

Meh, never seen a shapeshifting druid actually do good PvM or PvP at all. Maybe the people who play them just suck. There should at least be 10 good shifting druids out there.

TOTALLY AGREE bout the pvp part...
shapeshifters DO NOT excel in pvp at all...a windy druid bout beat them flat anytime...

I prefer wolf but whatever. Your not going to excell in either pvp or pvm but it might be fun to play with it anyway.

Dont bother with armagedon, to max it you need 30 skill points (im counting prerequisites). You cannot spare that many points and its damage is gonna be crap anyway.

What i recomend is
20 fury
20 lycanthropy
20 wolf
20 oak sage
1 bear
rest into feral rage

Basically you walk around power yourself up with feral rage and attack with fury. This is very equipment dependent.

Perfect equipment:
Defiance or might merc with bramble, delirum and doom. This is of course in a perfect situation.

Helm-Jalals mane
Weapon- either etheral Botd giant thresher or etheral botd berserker axe if you want to use a shield as well. if you cant afford this you could also try a buriza with a shael. That works pretty well in hell up to act 2 if your level is high enough but then begins to suffer.
shield- stormshield if your using berzerker axe.
gloves- steelrend, draculs, magnus skin, depending on your preference
boots- there should be no question here, goreriders.
Belts- preferably verdungos but string of ears is also a possibility
Trinkets- you need to have angelic ring and amulet for the Attack rating, its really annoying and difficult without it, also this way you dont need to put that much into dexterity if your using the thresher. Other ring can be anything you want.

Body armour- well best option would probably be chains of honour, but lionheart is perfectly acceptable.

Look for fast run walk small charms and 20 to life small charms. Also you might need resistences so look for those as well.

Try to maximize your crushing blow, deadly strike and open wounds, you will find enemies die much quicker with that.

the best druid skill for pvp is rabies, with the right gear you can get the psn dmg up to 50k, even though rabies at lvl 40 is over 20 seconds, its still 2500 psn dmg every second. coupled with perfect psn facets and a 6xshealed phase blade it pwns people.
