For good 3D animation and modeling I say use Lightwave, I do, it's awsome, but takes some time to learn. I made that ship in it that I showed a long time ago. Think the thread was called "Ship finished" If you want to look at it and see what you can do with Lightwave... of corse that was my first project so its not the best.
