and i ahte to say it, but your domination solo mp3. if you would play those licks at about.. 1/4 gain or so, you wouldn't be able to hear most of the notes
play it slow, work your way up. jumping right in at a million miles an hour does nothing but build bad habits and helps you hide behind gain. that's just my two cents
well, that, and if you have to rely on speed to say something on guitar, to me that says alot... but again, that's my opinion. you never hear warren haynes or eric clapton play riffs at james hetfield speed, but they say just as much. speed is a biproduct of accuracy, not vica versa
That's your opinion, and I respect that. Personally, starting off with speed has worked for me. I know my Domination solo isn't perfect, but I'm still working on it. I don't play with speed while I practice, but I try to make it sound as close as I can to the real speed when I record. I realize that it wasn't ready to release, but there's nothing I can do now. I practice as much as time will allow.
Warren Haynes and Eric Clapton are great guitarists, but they have different styles from James Hetfield or Dave Mustaine. I know I'm nothing like any of them, and I'm not trying to be. Learning the way I have been has worked, in my opinion, for me and I will continue to practice.
However, I really appreciate that 1/4 gain tip you gave me over MSN. I think I will actually practice like that more often, but still with near-speed to what it's supposed to be.
And Cooleo, shut the **** up. You're a fag.
