Quote:If you desire increased attack speed (IAS) for Whirlwind, keep in mind that only the speed of the weapon itself counts. Consequently, any IAS on any item but the weapon has no effect at all. With a 1H weapon the framebreaks are at 0, 10 and 35 for 7, 6 and 5 frames between each attack; for a 2H weapon it's 0, 30 and 60. To determine how much IAS you need for higher Whirlwind speed add the number listed in the speed section to these breaks, thus subtracting it if the value is negative. IAS above these values has no effect. Note that when Whirlwinding with a 2 handed sword, the frame breaks for 1 handed weapons are always used, regardless of whether the weapon is wielded in one hand or two. All other 2 handed weapons use only the 2 handed weapon frame breaks.
Example: Colossus Blade has a speed of [5] so you would need 5, 15 and 40 IAS on the weapon regardless of whether you are wielding it in one or two hands. Therefore, the unique item "The Grandfather" could never attack at the maximum speed for Whirlwind.
