umm elite-monk's post didn't really clarify i think so here's a better answer
1. you can either download portaldeamon00's display ip program (i'm not sure if its in download section on d2sector.. it's clean, provided you download from the same place).
OR
2. if you're not lazy, go to "Start --> Run" type "cmd" and press "ok". now when the cmd prompt comes up, type "netstat -n" and press "enter". a whole bunch of ips come up. the 2- or 3- digit number before the ".4000" in one of the ips is the ip number of the server you're in.
if the ip of the server you're in is hot or ready to pop, stay for dclone to walk
i also believe this is all explained under "everything you need to know about ubers" under diablo II guides in diablo II discussion
