That Gameplay video was quite nice, although I probably won't end up getting SC2. Reason one is that I'm too cheap, and secondly, to me, all of these new RTS's just seem to look the same.
Games like Supreme Commander, and now SC2, just seem like the same kind of thing. I know they are both RTS so obviously it has many similarities already, but they just look the same with smaller infantry and then the big badass units. It then tries to make each battle some kind of cinematic sequence. I'm sure the reason behind this is because most of the things they advertise try and show all of the units and show off all that jazz (big battles, very cinematic) to make little boys wet their pants or something.
I guess just seeing a SC2 on its own looks weird. I'm not used to playing with graphics like that, and I always thought strategy and the enjoyability of the game came before graphics and how it looks. Let's hope the finished product to the public includes as much strategy as it is glitter, because the videos seem to emphasize big battles and duking it out in large armies. When I played Starcraft I prefer smaller battles, strategy, sneaking around, etc; not just two huge forces beating the crap outta one another.
Don't get me wrong, this looks like it'll be a big hit and it looks great and all, but it just seems too similar to other newer RTS's and hopefully there will be something in there to make it a bit more....unique and Starcraft-y. GG.
