Yes, but you will want to switch to Imageready - I havn't played around with it lately (I used to do a lot more in the past), but the last I remember, the button to Imageready used to be on the bottom of the main palette to the left.

As for tutorials, a lot of my learning seemed to be trial-and-error and just playing around with it, but I'm sure I read a thing or two online. Check out this section to see if there are any threads that discuss different links for tutorials, but I know one I used to use a lot was Good-Tutorials / Photoshop Tutorials + Flash Tutorials.
