Weather or not you did close it, that wasn't the point really, it's what you said in the post and then got it closed. It wasn't totally wrong. And I bet you did nothing about it to get your mistake changed.

Obviously Pam, you either need to get these guys to do their job or get some new ones.
That or make smod again.

I know, next time I want a thread to stay opened, all I have to say is make it closed, and it'll stay open forever. (Visa-versa for it closed)
