As you are sitting there, drink in hand, content expression on your face, the bar door flies inward, opened forcefully by some unknown, but powerful force. A large shadow stands in the open doorway, two deep, grey eyes peer in from without, taking in the atmosphere in one quick sweep. Everyone turns to see what the commotion is, thus everyone sees the gigantic man stoop down to enter the bar, the ground vibrating with each step he takes.
A deep black tunic around his shoulders, over his normal attire, flitters lightly behind him as he walks; an unnatural sense of forboding darkness seeming to eminate from it's every fiber. Hanging from his neck is an ancient relic, the Eye of Amaraz, a powerful amulet containing the spirit of the deity of a long dead race, wiped out of existance by the ravagings of war and greed. Not able to be removed by any save it's wearer, the amulet protects against the permament of death, healing wounds almost instantly. Buckled across his back is a massive sword, the blade nearly was long as a man, and about two handspans wide. The blade is covered by a specialy tailored sheath, it's hilt wrapped in golden wire and it's polmenl set with a fist sized saphire that glints brightly, even in the dimness of the bar.
As he looks around the room once again upon entry, he spots the frame of a small, lithe woman sitting at a table near the back, a cat curled up in her lap. He makes eye contact with the woman, and immediatly they know who each other are. Walking towards the table, closing the distance quickly with long strides, he snarls vicously at the crowd in his path and doesn't even slow down in his approach towards the table, sending them scurrying in all directions.
Upon arriving at the table, he leans down and takes the woman's hand, kneeling down and bringing it to his lips breifly, before rising again and pulling up a seat at her table, glaring at the cat that peers at him from her lap, and almost smiling as it looks away nervously.
"Hello Pamela. It has been some time since my eyes have rested upon your beautiful face. I have returned for a spell, perhaps it might be permanent. Not easy to say as I love to wander. How have you been?"

You can run....but you'll just die tired.
