It's a wonderful game.I am having the exact problems you mention and I followed the guide skidude posted. Any clarification in the instructions would be appreciated.
Second, my sincerest apologies if I post this in the wrong thread. I poked my head around a bit for a forum/thread this would fit better in, but I've also been awake for an extended period of time.
Finally, I just can't get this thing to work, after well over an hour of tinkering.
I have gone through multiple help forums, done what worked for me with D2loader for 1.11b just last week, and I still can't get this to work right for me.
The message that keeps tying me down is the "Your CD Key was intended for another application," or some such.
I have done the following:
- imported the two mpq files from the expansion disc into my d2 folder.
- created 2 cdkey.mpq files, differently named.
- imported their data into registry.
- ran the cd key refiller.
- created 2 D2loader.exe files on my desktop, pointing to those different cdkey.mpq files
After the turmoil of trying to mix and match all of this stuff to get it to work correctly, no matter what I've tried, I can get the original cd key I installed to work fine, but when I try to run the second instance of D2, I either get the message about my CD key being intended for another application, or I got the message that said the key was in use by myself (I was able to rectify that problem).
A couple questions:
1. If I have two cdkey.mpq files in the D2 directory, do I need to have two .reg files to correspond to those mpq files? (or vice versa)
2. If the answer is yes, can I just copy and paste the first .reg file and then change the entry data? (of course, afterwards importing the data into the registry)
3. For awhile, I couldn't get the cdkey filler to create a .mpq file. Since I already had one in there, I had to rename it (so that the .reg file was pointing to somewhere that didn't exist), that finally brought up the installation prompt, and I got a new cdkey.mpq. Does this mean I've done something extremely stupid somewhere along the line and I just keep tripping over myself? Or was I on to something?
I truly, seriously, have come to this as a last resort, I would like to think that I am not a retard and can follow simple instructions that are all over the place, but I would like to think that if my experience is solvable, then maybe it will help others as well.
Finally, all four (2 D2C, 2 LOD) cd keys I am using are in working order, being entered correctly, and have not been banned.
Thank you, sincerely, in advance for any help that can be given.
EDIT: I would use the D2MultiTool it works great and was pain freeee :]
