Need help getting started on mod making pls
#2
Phrozen Keep will be your best source in mod making - The Phrozen Keep. Check out the modding resources on the side, as well as the Beginner's Toolkit in the files section.

If you havn't made a D2 mod before, START SMALL. Don't expect to be making a Median or an Eastern Sun in your first (or second, or third, etc...) try. Start with small modifications and edits, like treasure class/drops or editing the pre-existing skills so you get a hang of the tools.

I am personally not knowledgable on the actual modding, but you'll also have to decide on versions. Many mods, for example, are 1.10 only to get past the damage cap introduced in 1.11b. Others, like Median, have reached a higher audience with its capability with 1.12.

Once you get the hang of it, and if you start to get very good, you'll also need to decide whether you want to keep with softcoding, or get into hardcoding (this will keep Mac players from playing, and there may be other restrictions).

Good luck, and like I said, check out Phrozen Keep. Register for the forums there and I'm sure there will be people willing to help you out.
