i did that is it because i need room in my stash? is that why he's not saving the items i want?

yes you need room in your stash and also in your inventory to have enough room to pick up items and not be full with just 1 item
I would try at lease have 4 empty columns and also try to put all your items you want to keep in your inventory to 1 side and the empty columns to the other side - also remember you will have to re-edit the inventory slots in your char config file to match your inventory
