Note: This guide is not aimed at the people with the best of items so anyone can make a whirlwind barb.
Ok first of all i know i am going to get so people who will disagree but thats ok cause i like a good debate. Ok ww barbs can rush,its a fact that they can have more mf than any other character, the awesome PvP and can MvP pretty well. I recommend building one for your first character or for your pwn everything(includung players ^_^) character. Here's why...
1. The have incredible defense and life so they solo well. Basicly, they dont die very easily.
2. The can use warcries to pump up them and party members making them good in parties.
3. You have many different options with your barb u can use many different weapon types and have a couple of different normal attacks.
4. It's ok if you mess up on a stat point/skill point or 2 they will still be good(thats one reason why they good first character)
5. Being the "tank" you are closest to the items for the most part so you have a better chance of picking up items you want.
6. Finally...Barbs are SOO fun to play and they look awesome with some stuff on.

Skills
Ok... here the basic skills a whirlwind barbarain will use. They can be tweaked a little bit to your personal opinion on how u want them.
COMBAT SKILLS skills used:26-27
x1- bash (need for later skills)
x1- stun (need for later skills)
x1- concentrate (need for later skills or for left click attack)
x1- berserk (for immune to physicals,bosses for damage or for left click attack)
x1- leap (for later skills and to jump over stuff if u dont have tele with enigma)
x1- leap attack (need for later skills)
x20-whirlwind (The barbs main attack ofcourse)
Optional
x1- double swing (for main attack if you use 2 weapons and for leaching mana/life)
WAR CRIES skills used:42
x1- howl (for later skills)
x20-shout (to give you and your party an insane defense increase)
x20-battle orders (increases life and mana A LOT or you and your party)
x1- battle command (gives 1 all skills-makes other warcries better-helps out sorcs most)
COMBAT MASTERIES skills used:41-43
x20-sword/axe mastery (increases your damage a whole lot... a must)
x20-iron skin ( insanely increases defense must need both this and shout)
x1- natural resistance (increases all resistance must need in hell mode)
Optional
x1- increased stamina (to run longer and for later skills)
x1 -increased speed (to run faster)
Total skills(100 total):109-112 if u use the optionals u need to deduct 1 skill point from anything that has 20 added to it.
STATS: around 230 strength for heavy armor
around 170 dexterity for attack rating and to use certain weapons
around the reamaing to vitality for more life
around the 10 points you start with dont you dare touch this!!!!!!!
ITEMS:
WEAPON1:use the highest damage swords/axes you can get unless some other items has something special. Stay away from low damage 1 all skills items.
WEAPON2/SHIELD: If your duel weilding same as weapon 1 if your using a shield either stormshield or a shield with high resistance and block rate is the way to go.(if your duel weilding the same item as your are using in the first hand is good if you have no better)
ARMOR:Use a high defense armor definantly this is where your high strength helps. First choice is enigma for pooper people (like me) use a high defense stone or some other armor that added resistance maybe.
BOOTS: Use either boots that give you faster walk/run or resistance boots if you need it.IK boots get the job done and their pretty cheap and give you 2 combat skills if you have 3 other set items.
GLOVES: IK gloves are good cause the give you 20 strength and 20 Dexarity and i think maybe some resistance but i dont think so.
BELT: IK belt or T-gods is good or if you are rich anarch or string of ears. If yours using other ik items use the ik belt because it gets good bonuses. Try to get belts that have resistance/stats/and or life/mana.
HELM: My first choice would be hands down arreats. Wolfhowl or crown of herald are also very good barb helms. IK is not that bad for beginners. Try to get helm that give you skills and or life/mana.
RING: try to get rings that leach or give resistance. MY first choices would be a stone of jordan(sojs) or a Bo-katherins(spelled wrong) wedding band (bk ring).
AMULETS: TRy to get a 1-2 all skills ammy with added resistance or leach
1. Barbs are better at rushes because a sorc wont go far in nm/hell mode.
2. The person your rushing can be pumped up with warcries to live longer.
3. Hammerdin pallys i hear cant really take hits.
4. Summon necros need to make an army first and if they die they will have to make another one. they need dead enemies to be good.
the only things a whirlwind barbarian should fear is rushing diablo because of his minions that cast "iron maiden" which makes you deal damage to yourself when you deal physical damage. A barbarian in even normal mode can die from an iron maiden so beware off those monsters.
