for starting characters, i would always recommend a sorceress.

Fire is good for sc but in hc if they arent slowed chances r u will die If you do not like sorceress, then i would suggest against melee chars or those who go into the fray. well you could be a cheater and take the fun outa of hc by using chicken.
Well i shouldnt be that harsh as to say cheater since tppk is cheating, so u balance cheating with cheating i would say for starting char, maybe f orb may be better, but i do not know. Since f orb has larger radius, it may be able to slow more.
