Smiters own Zealots.
Smiters own all melee duells.
Therefor you shoud use smite instead of zeal.

You AznAvatar make exile look like crap, but i too will compare Exile to HoZ.

Etheral Chromatic Exile Zakarum Shield:
Dmg = 69-69 (weapon dmg and armour defences will increase by 50% when etheral. Shield do dmg when used as smite, so i think the dmg will increase to on a shield.)
Defence = 1050 at max
30% Block Rate
52% chance of blocking at max
15% Chance To Cast Level 5 Life Tap On Striking
Lvl.16 Defiance aura (220% more total defence)
+2 To Offensive Auras
Freezes Target
Replenish Life +7
+5% To Maximum Cold Resist

That is why i think exile is much better. I dont see why the best Upgraded HoZ is so much better than the best Etheral Chromatic Exile Zakarum Shield.

u're saying it like there's no point in making zealots. if u wanna talk about smiters, do so in a different thread. i'll answer u there.

smite dmg is not increased by 50% when the shield is ethereal. go check ur eth shields if u want. 50% bonus from eth only applies to weapon dmg and armor def.

+3 combat skills on exile? where on earth did u get that? pally shields do NOT spawn with +skills like other class specific items. go check arreat summit. they only spawn with resists, or ed+ar. the resists don't compare with HoZ, and the ed+ar don't compare with alma negra. therefore alma/HoZ > exile in those aspects.

in ur comparisons, u took the best possible exile vs the best possible upgraded HoZ. eth exile has more variable mods (base def, defiance lvl, auto-mods, superior mods), so it isn't fair to compare best vs best since it's that much harder to get an eth exile with every perfect stat.

My master(the player i look up to) who is a trustworthy player in diablo found hes shield in cows. (yes i know him)
It has the mods of beeing etheral, resists AND 3+ combat skills.
I saw it myself. Am not lying to you.

The dmg on shield i was not sure about, but if you say so, then at least it would be the same as HoZ upgraded.

Anyway, the Exile am talking about is very hard to get, and it is probably better to just stay with a upgraded HoZ since it will do almost as good.
All shields the unique shields including exile is good for a paladin.
I think its a image thing what people prefere maybe...

just because smiters beat zealots doesn't mean there's no point in using zealots. many zealots choose to duel other zealots exclusively. a smiter might have a good chance vs a barb with a shield, but not against a dual-wielding barb. a zealot has a better chance vs dual-wielding barbs than one with a shield.

regarding ur friend's +3 combat exile, plz post a screenshot since the official source as well as i deny its existence. it would also be good if other ppl verify its legitimacy.

yes i have never seen a +3 to combat skills normal shield. and i doubt it exists too. perhaps your "master" is just bsin. aside from the fact that a glitched ebotd or glitched exile did exist.. im pretty sure there is less then 5 in existence on bnet or their all deleted

if it is in fact a bugged item of some sort, can u post a screenshot of it plz? that might be interesting to see. +3 combat = +45% def, +18% zeal dmg, +30% ar, +12 base smite dmg btw.

I would love to show you it, but he traded it way time ago. And that was long before i knowed about MH.

But i might sayd something wrong.
I talked to my master yesterday, and he told me it diddent have 3+ combat skills, but it had 3+ defensive auras.
But if it can have 3+ defensive auras, why cant it then have 3+ offensive auras or 3+ combat skills.

I shall search in duel games for that kind of exile shield and try to get a screenshoot of it.

yes, i can understand ur logic there. u gotta admit tho, +3 to a skill tree in addition to up to 45 res or 65ed+121ar is kinda overpowering when u consider what mods the other class specific items can spawn with. honestly, i hope u're wrong about that shield cuz it's not just about good zealot shields...it's about game balancing issues.

If i deny what i saw, then i where lying. But we must renember that the chance of getting this type of shield is pretty damn low. Yes its overpower, but some its not my fault it exist. I can understand what you mean by balancing the game, but since its so rare, i doubt we have to worry about it.
